You know what I mean. There are plenty of songs in the catalogue that mercifully may never see the light of day during a concert. "Party at the End of the World" is certainly better than those. It has that infectious rhythm and the line about "Deadwood"SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Hey, hey now....... I LIKE Spending Money and Strange Bird!!RinglingRingling wrote:depends.. it's not a bad song. Better than "Spending Money", "Mermaid in the Night" or "Strange Bird"

My favorite line:

No one is going to really like every song. will they? Everyone has their favorites and their opinions of,what they like and what they don't like.
The only people that have to like it, are JB and the producers. A song that suks to one person may be the main loved song to another or vice-versa!

Altered Boy is one song that always gets skipped. I didn't even add it to my iPod. Same with Hokey Pokey and Math Suks.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:But.... but...... I like "Altered Boy", too!Jahfin wrote:Hey, it's better than an album full of "Hokey Pokey's" and "Altered Boy's".

I always find these threads fascinating, seeing what songs people hate and love, and so often the same song!LIPH wrote:Altered Boy is one song that always gets skipped. I won't say I love every song JB has recorded. That'd be blind following-along, and completely unrealistic. But I can honestly say that there's not a song on any album that I just *can't* listen to.... There are those I don't like as much, and that I skip (Elvis Imitators) and those I've tried to let grow on me, without success (Scarlet Begonias), but nothing that grates so badly I would stick my fingers in my ears....

I thought I saw somewhere that the new version of Floridays is on the new album? Or maybe not.Jahfin wrote:Hasn't he only played two songs from the new album, the title track and "Here We Are"?

I would certainly hope not, especially since it's already on Hoot. While I understand the new version is good, the amount of covers Buffett has been doing as of late has seemed to reach an all time high. To have Buffett cover Buffett (again) would fast be approaching overkill.CrznDnUS1 wrote:I thought I saw somewhere that the new version of Floridays is on the new album? I played Altered Boy for a friend of mine, a Buffett fan from way back, and he thought it stunk. But you see, he wasn't listening, he was just hearing it and for what it was not - classic Jimmy Buffett.
By no means is it a great song like I Have Found Me A Home or Tin Cup Chalice or Havana Daydreamin' or Wonder Why We Ever Go Home or Cowboy In The Jungle or Incommunicado or Somewhere Over China or Twelve Volt Man or Lone Palm or Island Fever.
But I like it. I like it because it's not Classic Buffett. Anyone can get into all the SYKBH and etc...but what about The Other Songs is what keeps me going back. Altered Boy is silly - obviously so. If you actually listen to it, he even introduces the song as a style from way off in faraway lands where the bands play music like that and just don't stop.
So it's rather obvious Jimmy is just having fun with a typical smarmy hotel lounge cocktail song that is, lyrically, about the absurdity of rich people. And that's good enough for me to enjoy it. I'd rather listen to Holiday or Altered Boy than Cheeseburger aaaaggggaaaaiiiiinnnnnn.

Correct: CD, album, LP, record - all the same. Point is - when is the new one coming out!?
Ha ha, I read something somewhere about Wrigley - I guess a live album is coming out as well? Or is it just the DVD? Why not both? Nowadays, with technology, it can be both, but I can't afford that technology. Yet.
But the Mailboat site had COMING SOON and that was three months ago.
In Mailboat land, 3 months is pretty quick - back in the day of mail boats and obviously now with the digital world and a record label called Mailboat Records. Ya savvy? I'm just guessing. It's pretty funny actually. "Okay Jimmy, you're releasing (enter what it is hyped to be here) in 3 months. Right. Gotcha."
Anyone holding their breath?

I enjoy Altered Boy.
The story goes
He stumbled at the altar.
Now it seems he just blasphemes
And dwells with danger's daughter.
Somebody call the talking doctor
Somebody get a SWAT team
There he sits just getting away with murder
How dare him live out his dreams
But Peter Pan would understand
His dreams and schemes and ploys
Best keep an eye on his slight hand
He's such an altered boy.
What's not to like about a lyric like that?
