Jimmy's 60th Bday Gift from BN- Updates-Page 1

Post by ejr »

With Jimmy's 60th birthday coming up on December 25th, we have been trying to come up with an idea for a BuffettNews present to send him. Soooooooo, just what do you get for the man who has everything? We (phjrsaunt, SMLCHNG, sunseeker, Tiki Bar, balcony girls, and ejr, who initially came up with the idea) thought it made sense to create a scrapbook with contributions from anyone and everyone on BuffettNews. We will collect entries, put them together in a phantastic looking scrapbook, and get it to Jimmy for his birthday.

Perhaps you want to write a poem, write your own lyrics to one of your favorite Buffett songs, draw a picture, make a collage of pictures or ticket stubs, send him a photo of you in all your parrotphanelia, write him a note... whatever best expresses your birthday wishes for Jimmy!

Here are the "particulars" we have come up with:

We ask that your entry be limited to one (1) 8 ½ by 11 inch sheet of paper (front and back).

All entries should be submitted no later than November 1, 2006.

Please use the same standards for acceptability that are used on BuffettNews---if you would not, or could not, post it on BuffettNews, please do not send it in.

Flat items only---no bulky enclosures can be accommodated.

Entries will be kept private and will not be made public by us-if you would like to share your page with the group, please either post it in this thread, or use another internet option and provide a link to it.

Somewhere on your entry, please include your first name, and your BuffettNews name.

When you have your part of this ready, please snail mail it to Ellen (ejr)---PM any of us and we will forward her address. She will collect all of this stuff (we hope to keep her very very busy) and will let you know that your entry has been received.

Please let us know what questions you have... we know that you guys will inevitably think of something we have not provided for, so ask, and we will get you an answer!

We are excited about this and hope that all of you will want to be a part of this!

I'll ask Debbie to help me do a page for Hoot Island and one for SOASOAPT from last year. What kind of scrapbook are you using? She's a consultant for Creative Memories and should be able to translate for me

This is absolutely brilliant. I thought of doing something like this a while back, but being a college student I don't have the free time to give to it.

However, I have the PERFECT submission idea for this and can't wait to send my work off to be added.

Another reason why BuffettNews is the best fan website on the internet!

this is a MOST excellent idea. i have a feeling one notebook isn't going to be big enough for all of our stuff ( even with a one page limit ).

i'd love to be a fly on the wall when bubba receives it.

. .just another suggestion . .

. .we will not be adding any extra " scrapbooky " things to your page . . so what you send will be what is put into a standard sheet protector. .

. .so, foo-foo it up if you want . . just remember no bulky, or loose items . .

. . we knew we could not get everyone to participate in a gift without it becoming " public " knowledge " to Jimmy . .now he only knows it will be a scrapbook from BN. . ! !

. .I'm sure he is in for quite the surprise . . knowing you peeps. . ! !

 :D

I think this is a *great* idea but as someone who does scrapbook, there are TONS of very cool albums out there, page protectors that are acid free, etc. I will be happy to lend any knowledge that I have or answer any questions. A scrapbook is a one of a kind gift and done correctly, it will be a treasure for years and years.

Ahhh...you just answered my question, honeylambpie ! But does front and back mean just that? I mean will each side of da paper be visible in the sheep protector? I am thinking about putting a few of my van decoration pictures on a page, maybe with my silly 'citcat with a KitKat in her mouth' picture. And maybe in small print at the bottom of the page, "I hereby promise never to stalk you or bother you while you are eating." 8)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!
I just reread this post and I said SHEEP PROTECTOR !!!!!
I meant SHEET protector. SPEW SPEW at my own post.

If you want, I'll talk to Mrs. Play about donating a nice scrapbook and *maybe* loaning out some supplies.
