Backstage?

Post by SoILPrtHed »

I know, I know- this is probably as good as asking for his email address! Was just curious about how to go about getting backstage pre- or post-concert. When at Cincy this year (1st Concert), saw a bunch of people going back and then caught tale-end of conversation concerning it. Probably a lot like Nascar- got to know to go! Anyway, if anyone has any sure-fire ways- give a new Parrothead a way to meet Jimmy, Peter or whoever would cross my path.

Try rushing his dressing room area with a blunt instrument. I'll bet you get to meet Jimmy. Jimmy "Mr Bigs" Pantanza down at the local clink. You may even see Peter, well you don't want to know his nickname.

couldn't resist. Sorry.

It helps if you have a friend in the band.

Great idea, except---- After Wally and C.C. got through with me... Well, let's just say that I would probably have a permanent piece of jewelery consisting of that blunt instrument.

Meeting Jimmy - Don't count on it...

Meeting a reefer - try going to one of their solo shows... they usually stay around to talk to everyone afterwards

Or you could be like Larry and have a connection

unforutnately after the IRS decided this year that comp tickets are taxable income for the comper, the pre-show party scene has pretty much gone the way of the do-do bird. even before it's demise, the reefers would show up but jimmy never did. as for true "backstage" passes, jimmy doesn't do them. he sometimes invites personal friends behind the scenes, but once it gets close to showtime, backstage gets locked down.

probably the best way to meet jimmy now is to win a Mville contest....

as for after the show, forget it. jimmy's at the airport before you're out of the venue parking lot.

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

blame it on the red sox, 1 of their players comped almost a million dollars worth of tickets in one year. needless to say, when the IRS got wind of it, things changed....

SoIL...welcome to BuffettNews and the world of Buffett and ParrotHeads...enjoy the ride!

As many have said, backstage will get you to the Coral Reefers, but not to Jimmy. The pre-show still exists, but the tickets that go with it are no longer free.

I've not had the backstage priveledge, but I have had the priveledge of meeting most of the Coral Reefers (very nice and gracious folks). As others have said, attending their shows is a great way to meet them (and they are wonderful musicians). Also, attending Meeting of the Minds may well give you that opportunity as most of them are performing and hanging around during that event.

And a real bummer if those weren't true comps (because that's a lot of tickets to be giving away to friends and family) ..e.g. re-sold on the scalper market for more $$s. :-?
