The problem is, I can't narrow it to just one...

Everytime I go someplace else with a beach, I keep thinking, " I could live here, let's move!"

Even though I live in a beach town that I already love, the wife and I are considering relocating next summer. On the not-so-short list of possibles:

Savannah
Charleston
St. Augustine
Gulfport, FL ( Hi, BG!)

My wife grew up near the coast in Maine, and her family had a cottage on Wells Beach (sold a few years back :( ) , so that's always a spot we like.

And Martha's Vineyard and the Keys would be great, if we won the lottery.

I'm also lobbying for Belize, although I haven't been yet!

It took a hit but I was there in November, it's open, what's left of it.

SPRING BREAK can't get here fast enough!!!

We'll all be at our family's special place of late (last 6-7 years), Tybee Island (GA).

My hubby and I say we want to chuck it all and move to Grand Cayman ... we met an ex-patriated American couple there on our honeymoon. We stopped by their dive shop and they let us borrow "their" lagoon ... magic!

But the place I'm umbilically connected to is St. Augustine Beach ... certainly not the biggest or the most beautiful, but when it's THAT place for you, your sanctuary, you feel the pull and, at some point, it's irresistable. We were there 3 X last year and it wasn't enough!

I would love to say that my "OPH" was some tropical lagoon. But I would have to say there are two of them to me; the first is where I learned to sail "Lake Davenport" on the Mississippi, the next one would be Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach, I have fished and dived from there a many a time for a midwesterner.

Front of Flora-bama 2007

Image

Those are refrigeration and portable units out front where the package store and lottery ticket sales used to be.

Mid-afternoon and NOT much business on a cold day in February.

Sure looks different, thanks for the pic. Last time I was there they were starting to build that piece of s*#! building next door on the right, sure ruined the atmosphere of the good old days.

About Flora-bama...This is not a very good photo, but you can see they did a little bit to obstruct the view some of that **** building.

It almost feels like they extended the upperdeck back some too, but I don't think that's possible.

You can sit out at the edge and still see the sunset.

The few times we were there before Ivan were so much fun. The last couple of times, it's just been driving through, but I always make a special trip that way to check the progress.

Mine is just south of that, Cape Neddick Lighthouse in York, Maine. I boat out of York, drop me a PM and if you wanna tag along we'll head up the coast checking out lighthouses!

oldest is Appleton 12, although the St James hors d'age (from Martinique) doesn't specify how long it has been aged.
