A Big Gripe

I don't understand why Jimmy plays so many shows in the Northeast and leaves most of the rest of us lucky if we get one show withing a 300 mile radius. Last year alone in the span of less than 90 days he player 5 shows in the NE, Jones Beach, Mohegan Sun, 2 at Great Woods and 1 at MSG. This year he is playing 2 in Foxboro at a 65,000 seat stadium and you just know that the week off between the two shows he will add a Mohegan Sun or Jones Beach show. I know the argument that he says most of the parrotheads are in the northeast but if that is tru why hasn't he opened ONE Margaritaville or Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant?

He is isolating his fan base in other parts of the country by catering to the NE!

And, from your post I have no idea where you're located...but I can tell it's not the Northeast.

Anguilla, Texas, Chicago, Wisconsin, just for starters? I grew up in New York, now live in Chicago, I never got the chance to see him play at Jones Beach. But I think it would be a great place to see him play

just based on personal observation, I'd say the population is denser here in the south than in the Northeast

Another thing to keep in mind, he's only played Mohegan Sun the last 2 years and it's a small venue, 10,000-11,000 capacity. He hasn't played Jones Beach 2 years in a row since 1997/98 and that's a relatively small venue too, it only seats 14,000. Last year's Madison Square Garden show was the first since 2001. I can't remembver the last time he played the Garden State Arts Center (or whatever it's called now) in NJ. A lot of years the 2 Great Woods shows are the only northeast shows.

I think we all wish Jimmy would play as many shows as possible, and spread them as evenly as he could, across the nation. But there are so many things that go into scheduling a tour that many of us can't even perceive.

2004 is that last time Jimmy played a show at the local venue, where all my phriends could get together for the day and enjoy ourselves. We hope and pray that he'll return this year, but when he didn't last year I took things into my own hands.

Maybe you can't travel, for whatever reason, and if not, then it's too bad. But the nice thing about the shows being clumped so close (time and location wise) is that you may be able to travel to more than one show, on one trip.

I've seen a post about a great roadtrip for the July shows. And you're right, Jones Beach or somewhere close to Boston will probably happen, and wouldn't it be great to see him at the stadium a couple times, with another one in between? Even if you don't go into all of the concerts, you'd still have a great time hanging with friends before the show.

I just want to thank Jimmy for continuing to tour. Every fall I worry that I may have seen him for the last time. So whether he's coming to my town, or if I have to travel to see him, I'm gonna do it. I hope you can too, at least once.

I beg to differ. Television markets are not based on population. I am in media production. I just got through producing a commercial this morning. Houston, TX is the 4th largest city in the US, but our TV market doesn't even make the top 10. In population, our metro area dwarfs Atlanta, Detroit, and Philadelphia. But our media market is lackluster. As a result I can run tv spots on Oprah in the afternoon for 1/2 the rate as I can run on Oprah in San Francisco.

So what you're saying is the people of Houston have enough sense not to drink the Kool-Aid Oprah's giving to all the gullible suckers in other parts of the country.

Garden State Arts Center is now the PNC Bank Arts Center in beautiful Holmdel NJ. 1998 was his last year here. He's neglecting us too
