I posted this in the other Bristow thread as well, but I did an overlay of AccuWeather's storm track with a Google Map with JLL marked on it. Based on that, it's tracking east enough to miss Bristow and even if it does hit there, the brunt of it will be the next morning.

The "brunt"/center of the storm may pass by Sunday morning.

The "leading edge" of wind/rain will begin on Saturday.
The concert event is not limited to the 2 hours
between Hot, Hot, Hot and the final encore .....

.... its the 3 hour plus traffic jams before and after the storm,
and the Sunday cleanup and departure from the DC metro area
for anyone from out of town.

This thing is wide impacting.

In the words of comic Ron White in his bit about hurricanes:

"It's not THAT the wind is blowin', it's WHAT the wind is blowin'".............. :o

The Governor of Virginia has announced a state of emergency due to the potential impact of Irene:

It's been rescheduled:

Due to the predicted impact of Hurricane Irene and forcasted high
sustained winds and heavy rain for the DC Metro area, Live Nation is announcing the postponement of the Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band concert scheduled for Saturday August 27th at Jiffy Lube Live. The concert has been rescheduled to take place on Thursday, September 1st. All tickets purchased for the postponed concert will be honored on the new date.

This was a good call, anyone who has met me, knows I was in Nola after the hurricane. And even the parts that did not take the full monty of it were a mess. You could not rent a car, buy a bottle of water , or beg borrow or steal gas. No flights in or out of anywhere. If it is 1/20 as bad, that's 5% of what Katrina was. The greater DC area is going to be strained for resources manpower, etc . More people on Sunday will be wishing they had stayed home, than be stranded . And if it is any worse, the show would be cancelled because the 3 airports closest DC Reagan, Dulles, and Andrews AFB are used by Air Force/Government one to bail out the prez. In a hurricane evac, they are going straight to Dulles, because of the runway length. Then not even Jimmy would be able to make it home. :-(

Good call, slight inconvenience to few, probably helped many IMO .

Yes, it is.
Why some people feel invinceable or determined to defy any sense of logic is beyond me.

Apparently they've no memory of Hurricane Kaitrina.
Really perplexing as to how some people think.

Well, I've never claimed to be smart.
You watch-there'll be those few schlubs who'll refuse to evacuate, end up drowning, and their families will sue whatever state they lived in.

I wonder WHAT this guy was thinking by doing that.

Still, it's sad and needless.
