Last FRIDAY in June @ the MSC

Post by Dr.Corona »

Good Morning Gang! Decided to tack on 1 more night here “Up North” so we’ll come home Saturday. Think we’ll take a drive to a bird sanctuary to start the day.
Can’t believe next Friday will be July. Where is June going?
Enjoy your Friday Parrotheads!

Good morning Ken.

Minor League Baseball went back to playing a split season schedule this year, the first half of the Carolina League season ended last night. The Pelicans finished in first place in the South Division so they're in the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They only had a one game lead and Charleston, the second place team, won last night. If the Pelicans had lost they would have been tied and Charleston would have finished first because they had the tiebreaker, a 5-4 record in head to head games. The Pelicans were losing 6-1 in the 7th inning, took the lead in the 8th, gave up the tying run in the bottom of the 9th and won 8-7 in 10 innings. I wonder when they'll start selling playoff tickets?

Howdy folks.

Not much going on in court today but since the judge is out next week and I will be out July 1-7 we’ve got stuff to do.

Morning BNers

Except the craziness with the Supreme Court, not much going on. Just another hot day.

Larry has been fighting "something" the last few days. Feeling droopy, sore throat, just yucky.
Guess who woke up sneezing and sore throat...yup, me.
Don't feel that bad, but just lots of sneezing. Thought it was Sharian dust, maybe not.

Crazy ending to last night’s Mariners at Oakland ball game. After beating the A’s 8-2 and 9-0 the first two games, last night the M’s bats were dead and the A's had a no-hitter going until there were 2 outs in the 8th inning. Going into the 9th, the A’s were leading 1-0.
In the top of the 9th inning, the M’s pulled this off:
1st batter – walk
2nd batter – pop-out
3rd batter – walk
4th batter - strike out
5th batter – walk
Bases loaded with 2 outs
6th batter – 1st pitch goes all the way to the backstop now the score is 1-1. A few pitches later, it’s full count with 2 outs and the pitcher uncorks another wild pitch and the M’s are now up 2-1 and go on to win by that score. In the 9th they sent 8 men to the plate and scored 2 runs without getting a hit

I'm having lunch at Old Chicago. The TV above the bar where I'm sitting is tuned to the NFL Network and they're scrolling the 2022 schedule of every team on the bottom of the screen. The Jests have a chance to win 3 games, they play the Bears, Lions and Jaguars.

The Pelicans had an inning almost as bad in one of their games this week. They won 5-3 and the other team scored all 3 of their runs in one inning. It went:
walk
single
walk
strike out
walk
walk
strike out
walk
No wild pitches but 3 bases loaded walks. But that's Class A minor league baseball and most of the players are 21 years old or younger. The Pelicans have 7 players on their roster who aren't old enough to have a beer.

Weather is playing havoc with our plans for these evening. A bunch of pop up storms in the area. We decided to just do everything here at the house. Wife has a bunch pots on the stove, and two on the grill to begin boiling all the shell fish. I am going to go to ensure that with the heat of the day, that the beer tabs are cold enough......

Test 1 went fairly good, but I am thinking it should be double checked.

There was just a story on the 5:00 news about a person who was killed by an alligator. The reporter who did the story said there's going to be a criminal investigation. Why? Feeding an alligator is a crime in South Carolina. An alligator feeding on a person isn't a crime. They're prehistoric reptiles, they eat things.

Hi there! I had a fantastic day on Lake Erie. The bay was quiet al morning, but the afternoon it looked the boat scene in Caddyshack.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Ok, I'll ask.

What is a pop-out?

Some sort of wardrobe malfunction?
Why aren't we seeing such a ruckus as that other wardrobe malfunction?

A fly ball is a ball hit into the air (vs. a ground ball, one hit on the ground). A pop fly is a fly ball hit nearly vertically into the air, usually within the infield. If a batter hits a fly ball that is caught by an outfielder he is said to have flied-out and if he hits a pop fly that is caught he has popped-out.

Don't make me start asking you about Australian Footie terms!

Thanks :)

By the by, the AFL (Australian Football League) stole most of those terms from the Rugby codes...
