Post by phjim »

From Phjrsaunt:

THE NEW COOKBOOKS ARE HERE!

The moment we have all been waiting phor is now upon us. We will have the cookbooks later this week, and the order form is LIVE on PHRUITCAKES.com! East Texas Parrothead plans to start getting them shipped during the week of March 24th, give or take a day or so.

*Please go to www.Phruitcakes.com to order. Our buddy Elrod has created and will maintain this site specifically phor use by our cookbook phans. The Secrets in the Crust created the artwork phor the cover. There is an “order phorm” on the site. Your credit card payments will be done through a Paypal account that I am in charge of. (In case you were wondering, I will never see your credit card information). If you prefer to pay by personal check, you can do that there as well, by entering appropriate information. All else failing, you can send a check to me directly. Send me an email at phruitcakes@aol.com if you need more information about that.

*Information about how our donations are used can be found at www.NationalBreastCancer.org.

*The total cost is $13.00 per book. This includes shipping and handling. There is no sales tax. This is not tax deductible because BuffettNews.com is not a legal entity (not a non profit charity).

* Approximately one half of your purchase price will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I will let you all know exact dollar amounts when I can. I also want to mention that our buddies PHAW Webmistress and Elrod volunteered to jump in and help when we discovered that we needed their expertise. Phurthermore, our pal 2FLA helped us with the very special dedication and photograph of Pam Miller (a.k.a. Volcano Lady). Please thank them if you run into them on the boards.

My cookbook came today and it's great! Can't wait to make the Christmas Cake - a la Jose Quervo.
I expected just a cute little souvenir of all things Buffett, but it is a regular cookbook with wonderful recipes of all kinds and even helpful kitchen and cooking hints.

Bet their spell check almost crashed from keeping up with all the "ph" stuph!

I have bought cookbooks before to benefit various different charities. This is, BY FAR, the best I have ever received. This is the first time I have purchased a charity cookbook that is basically a hard cover!!!! It is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

The popularity of this book has exceeded the expectations of the most optomistic PH. As this book heads to a second printing....I can honestly say that I am very proud to have been a part of this project....PHINS UP TO EVERYONE!

I'm so glad you posted SITC, b/c it reminded me that I forgot (????) to post something that PHJim sent me. I went back to look, but it appears that I accidentally deleted it. In a nutshell, PHJim said that he is very pleased that BuffettNews is associated with this book. A compliment phrom our head Parrothead...can't ask for much more than that! :D

So here it is, 6 years later, and celebrating all that is amazing with the Phruitcakes in the Kitchen cookbook! :D :D :D

Everyone in my family has a copy of the first edition, including some nephews and neices. The cookbook includes some family classic recipes that I had contributed and are nice to have handy, as well as some that became new family traditions as soon as we tried them.

This is yesterday... my sister looking at page 56... East Texas Parrothead's Sweet Potato Casserole, and reading the ingredients to my brother-in-law to add to the grocery list:

And here's Linds, pointing out her recipe on page 103 with pride and laughter:

Phruitcakes in the Kitchen was a wonderful thing, and still is! As is it's follow up, Phruitcakes in the Kitchen II, with 300 additional recipes:

http://buffettnews.com/forum/viewtopic. ... n#p2532171

Sweet Potato Casserole is on page 95 of the 2nd edition, and is just big yummy with an Easter ham!

Lindsey Sundae is page 210.

Thank you once again, to EVERYONE involved in putting together both editions, and to all who contributed recipes. Lots of good good stuff in them, and lots of warm fuzzy memories with the good things they did in the memory of some special people.
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say

I use mine almost daily ... it's got splashes of catsup, eggs, butter, onions and other stuff all over it ... but I love it. I tend to use the first version more than the second ...

We should do another printing .... :D
