Sail On Curly Neal

Post by big john »

Harlem Globetrotter star Fred "Curly" Neal passed away last night at age 77.
Neal was one of just five Globetrotters to have his number retired, an honor he received in 2008.
Neal spent 22 years with the Globetrotters from 1963 to 1985, and he appeared in more than 6,000 games
in 97 countries with the team.
Who's got the rum?

Such a tradition watching them annually on ABC Wide World of Sports back in the 70's.
Went to see them live once back in the 70's as well & then went with my oldest grandson about 5 years ago with his Cub Scouts.
Meadowlark & Curly were definitely the "faces" of my generation of Globies!!
RIP Mr. Neal!

Same. I always loved how when NBA players would be there they looked star struck to be with the Globetrotters. Of course, that was back in the day.

Sail On, Mr. Neal.
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......
