You can still commit the ashes. They are going off the carbon scraping from the big bone-burning furnace. Plenty to go around!comemonday wrote:I think it's sort of cool actually. I'd do it, but my mom would never let me since the ashes have to be "committed." (I think that means buried in Catholicese)

The minimal cost is actually cheaper than a funeral.parrottheadbaby wrote:I think its weired, but I guess there is a market for anything now-a-days...
wow, the cost is pretty out there isnt it...
overall, I think its kinda cool and creepy all at the same time...
And you get something back out of it.
I'd totally do it.

Nah, I don't think I'd go for this.

Re: Is this weird...
My husband had this done for me for our two shelties that passed a couple of years ago. I was such a mess after they went, and our vet had mentioned it to him since I'm a jeweler, he thought it might be a nice way for me to always have them with me. I have two .25 carat blue stones set as a pendant.
I don't advertise what I'm wearing, but I do get a lot of compliments on it, and it makes makes me remember them fondly. I would definitely get it done again when the need arises. I have some of my former pets cremated, but it's kind of nice to always have the companion that gave you so many years of love 'with you' always.
It's not for everyone, but I really think it's a nice remembrance.

Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..

How can you be guaranteed that you get your loved ones "scrapings"? And not those of god-knows-how-many-people (or pets)?DonnaKayDunbar wrote:You can still commit the ashes. Good to know you had great results.
I've never really been at ease with just going into the ground, so I would definitely prefer this.
