I love them right out of the garden, I do not like "hot house" tomatos in the winter time nor do I like to put my garden fresh ones in the frig after slicing.

I love fried green ones any season.

And those yummy cherry tomatos that pop in your mouth that you usually eat in salads.

Nothing like a HUGE tomato slice between two pieces of bread with mayo, salt and pepper or hell, leave off the bread and mayo :D

yep to all above!!!

and the stuffed

and don't forget for breakfast with gravey!!

Love fresh garden 'maders in my salsa!!
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

I hated tomatoes as a kid, except for ketchup and spaghetti sauce.... Now, I'll eat them pretty much every way, although I still don't care for tomato soup....

And I've never had the fried green variety...

I am sure some southern lady could give you a recipe but mine is simple

Fryer with oil to cover the slices
dip the slices in buttermilk or milk
dip them in flour (that already has ample salt and pepper mixed)
drop them in the grease
When they are golden brown, eat em

You can do this without the grease if you want to cut back on the fat, just use a cooking spray.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

I'm stuck in printing hell . . . and you guys are making me very hungry . . .

If I get to heaven, the first thing I'm going to order at Saint David's Diner is a Beefsteak Tomato Samwich . . . with mayo and salt . . . on white bread! With sweet tea and some Maui potato chips. :D :D :D

Fresh...right off the vine....on sticky white bread...with Duke's Mayonaise ..and salt and pepper..

Or green and fried..

Don't like spaghetti...not fond of pizza unless it is made with the white sauce w/Olive Oil...

I never buy salsa...

I'll eat them cooked if that's all there is...but I like them right out of the garden....

Can't STAND Tomato Soup or Ketchup....blech..ugh...I don't even keep it in the house....

Ain't nothin' in the world that I like better
Than bacon & lettuce & homegrown tomatoes
Up in the mornin' out in the garden

Get you a ripe one don't get a hard one
Plant `em in the spring eat `em in the summer
All winter with out `em's a culinary bummer
I forget all about the sweatin' & diggin'
Everytime I go out & pick me a big one

Homegrown tomatoes homegrown tomatoes
What'd life be without homegrown tomatoes
Only two things that money can't buy
That's true love & homegrown tomatoes

:D :D 8)

This week alone I have made four batches of salsa with garden fresh tomatoes. I can't keep our three boys out of it.

Other than that, I really don't like them at all.
Go figure.

I like tomatoes in some things and by themselves. Either fresh and ripe or green and fried. There are a few things I con't care for them in and I really don't care for the "greenhouse or hothouse" variety with the tough skin. I do understand they are "designed" to hold up better for shipping and resist bruising.

But yeah fresh tomatoes on sandwiches, burgers, salads, YUM-YUM!!!

Just think what chilli would be without tomatoes and tomato sauce,or Marinara sauce over mussels, or some stews or other sauces or bloody marys or BLTs or CHEESEBURGERS or.........

The tomato got a bad rap for many years because it was said/thought to be poisonous. Thankfully people have learned this is not true.

Thats Right! I forgot I knew this.
One of George Washington's aides was a traitor and was said to have cooked tomatoes and served them to him in hopes of killing the General. After doing so, the aide went out and hung himself a'la Judas.
