I am invisible .....

Post by alphabits »

..... or at least I apparently have the ability to unwillingly become invisible and/or have the things that I do be undetectable.
Oh, it started off small enough ..... walking up to a counter and have the customer service person be totally oblivious to my existence even after a couple "excuse me"s. Or being in a line at a store and have the sales person look right through me and wait on the person behind me.
Now it's spread to electronic communication. In the last few days I've sent several messages in various forms (email, voice mail, etc) that have received no reply. Some were important enough that a reply should have come relatively quickly.
So now I'm convinced that my "invisibility ability" has extended such that even though I have physical evidence of having done something, the rest of the world is unaware of it having been done. I seem to have acquired a "super un-power" if you will.

In all likelihood, even though I can see this message on my computer, it will not actually exist on BN.

Important disclaimer: I am not intoxicated nor otherwise chemically altered. However, my tongue IS planted firmly in cheek.

Oh, I've had that particular "talent" for over 30 years. But it's not that they think I'm invisible ..... they just don't care. :-?

Invisibility can happen in your car too.
I had some guy in a Pinto (yes, a Pinto!) in the oncoming lane of traffic turn left in front of me like I wasn't even there. Just as I was reaching into the glove box for my asbestos suit (dangit, I left it at my computer desk!) we narrowly avoided a surely spectacular collision.

Silly me...
I looked at the center of the steering wheel -- the "I" button had been on the whole time.
My bad. That will teach me to drive in invisibility mode.

btw - Invisibility is the highest state of Drunkeness.
(But I'm sure that's just a coincidence.)

ummm.. quite the opposite. When you are lit enough to set off breathalyzers in police cruisers passing 3 blocks away, you aren't invisible... It's like you have a big ol' neon sign with 15' letters over your head saying, "Don't try this at home kids, he's a trained professional" :D
