Actually, only a few have that feature. Out of the 6 4-wheeled vehicles we have, only 1 has that arrow.
Our truck has it, our car does not.

is your convertible an American car Tommy?

use to be, mostly, like a lot, that American cars were on the left (Drivers side here) and them there Japanese cars, it's on the right....cus that's their Drivers side. Tank position doesn't change when they made the driver sit on the other side.

Oh, and mines on the right....yes I drive a foreign car...sorry, it was used and it's paid for!!
I thought that all American and Japanese cars had the gas fill on the driver's side, and all of the European cars had it on the passenger side. Excluding high performance cars which have the fill in the center rear.

My Toyota truck has it on the left and my Chevy Cavalier has it on the right. Go figure.

I should have clarified my response. The newest vehicle I have is a 2000, so you may be absolutely right when it comes to cars produced in this millennium

But what is an American car?

Some Fords are built in Mexico
Some Chryslers are built in Canada and Austria

And as for "foreign" cars??
Some BMW are here in South Carolina
Some Toyotas in Tennessee
Some Isuzu in Louisiana

Thanks for the opening, but, the Jeep is a 97 and the Tahoe is an 03. I was just plain wrong.

My car has the fuel on the right, and anecdotally adn looking at this poll seems like the majority are on the left. This makes the line shorter for me when I am getting gas since most are in the lane for the left hand fuel pumps and I can zoom into the right handed lane.

2006 Ford Five Hundred - Right side fill

2007 Ford Escape - Left side fill

Go figure.

Left side on the Jeep.
Right side on the Mercury.
Left side on the vehicle I drive at work.

Sometimes when I drive up to the gas pumps, I have a senior moment and forget which vehicle I'm driving and have to turn the damn thing around to be able to get the gas tank next to the pump.

Gas here has gone below $3.00 per gallon for the first time since February, but that's only for the ethynol crap.
As of today it's
$2.98 for ethynol (89 octane, which I NEVER use)
$3.08 for regular (87 octane)
$3.18 for premium (91 or 92 octane)

I always by my gas at the Wal Mart gas station, use my Wal Mart gas card, and pay .10 cents per gallon less than what the commoners pay.
