Not only have I been a Hurricane, my name was retired after Hurricane Andrew rocked Florida as Cat 5 back in August of 92. So although my name was used once it will never be used again.
Now for the being in a Hurricane, yes living on Long Island I have seen a few that I can remember with the last one being Hurricane Gloria in 1985, the others were Hurricane Belle and a brush by Hurricane Bob. We have had a bunch of tropical storms though. Everyone keeps talking about the "big one" which would match up to the Long Island Express which devastated Long Island back in 1938 before they started naming storms. On average Long Island gets brushed or hit my a hurricane ever 5 years or so.
Have you ever been a hurricane?

We'll see this year. I don't go by Danny but I'm on the list nonetheless.

Just a Tropical Storm back in 2004. And not even a very strong one at that. Oh well. Or should I say "good thing"?
Anyway, been through several hurricanes. But no major ones. Closest I came, was to Floyd several years ago that nailed NC. I was in Savannah and they had a mandatory evac of FL and eveything East of I-75 in GA.

Re: Have you ever been a hurricane?
There's never been a hurricane named Mallory. Hubby (Matthew) is on deck for 2010 and my little man Tony is scheduled for 2012. There's a Vicky this year, but Victoria never goes by that name (either Victoria or Tori).
A Hurricane Mallory would be cool because Mallory means unlucky.
Whoooda thunk!!!

I didn't think I was ever a hurricane, but apparently I was..
Hurricane Ginny was the eight tropical storm and seventh hurricane of the 1963 Atlantic hurricane season. The storm hovered offshore the Southeast United States for several days during late October, threatening the coasts of the Carolinas with a landfall and bringing moderate to heavy rainfall. The cyclone eventually moved northeast, peaking at Category 2 strength on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale, and brought snows to New England as it struck the coast of Nova Scotia. The hurricane caused a total of seven deaths and $300,000 in damage

I didn't think there was a Hurricane Nancy but when I googled it I came up with a Typhoon Nancy in 1961. It slammed the pacific and was the longest duration category 5 storm, lasting 5 days.

Re: Have you ever been a hurricane?
Hurricane Linda in 1997 was "the strongest Pacific hurricane on record".
Was heading to California and would've been major horror, but turned out to sea.
Typical me....

Re: Have you ever been a hurricane?
haven't been a hurricane (though Tomas is on the list next year)
have certainly been in several.
Charley, Frances, and Jeanne all visited us within a 45 day period in 2004.
We were in or within miles of the eye with all three of em.
