Let's see:
1) Independently wealthy, and they built that wealth it's not inherited.
2) They have no debt.
3) They are chosing to have a really, really big family.

Quick everyone get the picks, axes and torchs.

But really, how is what they are chosing to do a bad thing? I have heard at least a dozen women say to my wife, after our last child (third), was born how they wish that they had more kids. I have never heard a woman say "I wish I had fewer children".

It's obviously not for everyone, but why the ridicule?

Because each of the Duggar children has the same impact on the planet as 10-20 children in a Third World country. And, for that matter, the resources to feed, clothe, and house each child, not to mention transport them around and carry their bodily wastes away several times a day is probably taken from 10-20 Third World children, in one way or another. Thank the global economy for that.

And because the planet doesn't *need* any more humans on it, American or otherwise.

The second part is complete garbage, and the first is not far behind. Care to show where you are pulling your "facts"?

I'm gonna step in a big pile of crap here but what the hell....

Personally, I think people ridicule things they don't understand or don't believe in or things that are different. I don't know anyone that has 19 kids. I think my friends with 4 is alot. So, do I think it's a bit much? Yeah, I do. I'd never have that many. I guess they like having a big family. And if the mom is not endangering her health and all the kids are taken care of, fine. Do I think the world is overpopulated? Yeah. Of course, I had 3 kids so am I hypocritical? Maybe.

And, people think some of the stuff we do is a bit crazy.

I caught the show once, and the "parents" don't do any actual parenting. They leave it up to the older kids to take care of the younger ones. Don't have kids if you don't want to take care of them. Wonder if they ok'd #19 with the ones that'll actually be taking care of it?
