Who's going to Wrigley July 15 2017?
Just heard the Man say he'd be playing Wrigley in 2017, to make good on a promise of years ago. No more details on the show, but Merry Christmas Chi-Town!

Re: Wrigley 2017
I'm guessing it will be the weekend of July 15-16. James Taylor is playing the 17th and there is also another weekend last week of June with 3 concerts scheduled, so its unlikely he will play then. They usually try and have the concerts all around the same times so to avoid field damage configuration issues.
If the July dates hold true, maybe we get a James Taylor guest sit in ala Comerica Park 2014

How about a Labor Day weekend show, so the out of towers can fly in and make a long weekend out of it?
By the way, the Cubs are away that weekend...

When he played Wrigley in '05, weren't those 2 shows Labor Day weekend?

Re: Wrigley 2017
This sucks. I was hoping to attend Alpine this year, but likely no Alpine show if he's playing Wrigley. I have no desire to go to this wretched venue and will have to look at other venues for a possible road trip.

Agreed, if there's no Alpine then 2017 is already off to a bad start.

Looks like the "normal" Chicago weekend (June 24) is open! Could see one or two shows happening then. Maybe a tailgate at Toyota and a Wrigley Show!!!

Why wouldn't he play Alpine, also? I believe he did in '05.dean_siu wrote:This sucks. I was hoping to attend Alpine this year, but likely no Alpine show if he's playing Wrigley. I have no desire to go to this wretched venue and will have to look at other venues for a possible road trip.

Re: Wrigley 2017
He didn't play alpine in 2005. That's the only year he has skipped Alpine. Maybe we will get an alpine show if there is only one at wrigley. who knows

I get to see Jimmy for free. I sell beer there. Best of both worlds. I really hope for June 24th. My weekend off from my other job. Seeing Jimmy AND making money. Can't ask for a better job. It should be above freezing by then.

Re: Wrigley 2017
So what does everyone truly think about Alpine? He normally does both Chicago and Alpine so why would Wrigley and Alpine be any different? I think Alpine is one of his biggest and most successful venues each year!

Re: Wrigley 2017
If Jimmy does play wrigley, which I really hope he does not because their is no good tailgating and the thought of him possibly skipping Alpine like he did in 2005 would be tragic, our possible dates are really just two.
Wrigley always has mutable concerts during the same weekend as bands share the same stage which lowers production costs and causes less disruption and destruction to the ballpark.
Wrigley already has 5 concerts scheduled for this summer and do not usually have much more than that.
Thu 06/29/17 Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers & Chris Stapleton
Fri 06/30/17 Dead & Company
Sat 07/01/17 Dead & Company
Mon 07/17/17 James Taylor & Bonnie Raitt
Fri 08/11/17 Billy Joel
Jimmy would almost defiantly play a Saturday. That leaves out the late June early July option as the Dead are playing 7/1.
I could see Jimmy playing Saturday 7/15 or Saturday 8/12 at Wrigley, but again I really hope he plays Alpine instead if he can only play one!

Re: Wrigley 2017
Though who knows when it comes to Jimmy and wrigley.
If memory serves me, he played two days in a row in 2005 which was very uncharacteristic of him.
I believe the second show, which was on Memorial Day, was even in the afternoon.
