I've seen Madonna and Neil Diamond there. It's fine, but those concerts kinda don't compare to Jimmy. Jimmy just feels better in an outdoor amphitheater.

This is better than Wrigley and better than Northerly Island, but not as good as Tinley and nowhere close to as good as Alpine.

FWIW, Tinley is booked for 7/18, so it seems like they wanted a ~20k seater and not a ~40k seater like Alpine.

There are multiple posts on the Margarillas Twitter saying that there will be tailgating. A few thoughts on that:

*LiveNation notes there are about 6,000 parking spots. Not sure how they compares to Tinley.

*The north and east lots are fine, the south lots are okay. The lots west of Damen are a little rough, butting right up to the neighborhood west of the UC.

*I feel like tailgating will have a looser feel than it did at Museum Campus in 2013, but that the city is gonna pull their iron-clad “lots open at 3 and not a second earlier” deal, because they’re a bunch of hardos that’s what hardos do: they tightly control things that don’t matter when they can’t control things that do matter.

The United Center for a Chicago summer Jimmy Buffett concert? WTF? I'll hold out for Alpine later in the summer. If it doesn't happen, then "oh well". The only time I haven't seen him in probably the last twenty-five years is 2002. July 18 is right in the middle of a three night stand of String Cheese Incident at Red Rocks and we'll be there enjoying three glorious outdoor concerts.

The United Center was the only option for July 18th as Tinley Park is booked with Hall and Oates

Saturday 7/25/2016 - Tinley Park, IL

Uhhhh.. Chicago outside in July can be the most awful temperature/humidity. Your mileage may vary. (been there for a show in 2003, and used to live in the suburbs).

To each his own, but I’d rather be hot outside. Jimmy isn’t the same in an arena to me. I’ll still go and love it, but I would take Tinley and especially Alpine over this (though getting out of Alpine was a nightmare last year).

We have the same dilemma here in Tampa this year. An indoor arena with limited tailgate options and a December show date. Not sure what we will do yet.

My strategy for Alpine: leave slowly, hit the bathroom, have a post-show Jimmy Johns sandwich at the car, re-hydrate, hit the bathroom again, then leave. Meanwhile the initial rush clears out.
