I so cannot wait for an Alpline date.. This year will be my third year at Alpine and of all the places I have seen Jimmy this is my favorite. I so hope it isnt like last year and we have to wait until May to know the day.

Dave Matthews announced their summer tour today, no Alpine data.. playing 2 dates at Northerly Island and 1 night in Milwaukee instead? Seems kind of odd.. Also, Zac Brown Band, who played Alpine last year, are playing in Milwaukee at Summerfest.. Reason to worry?

I just mentioned the same thing to a fellow Milwaukee area Buffett fan...I don't have a good feeling about Alpine Valley as a venue.

Since it's hey day back in the 1980s, the number of shows Alpine has hosted has really declined.

The pool of artists that can actually fill Alpine is limited to begin with. With DMB and ZBB playing Summerfest this year, Alpine Valley may not have any shows at all this year.

I'll start the rumor, supposedly the people at Summerfest are working on some major announcements for this years lineup. How bout Jimmy for two nights?

Pearl Jam has played two nights at Summerfest before, no reason Jimmy couldn't do the same.

So far, Summerfest has announced some pretty major mainstage headliners....Bruno Marz, Lady Gaga, Zac Brown Band, and Dave Mattews Band. JB Would be a huge draw.

Jimmy moved from Summerfest to Alpine in the mid 90s because of the larger seating capacity. The Marcus only holds about 23,000 while Alpine can do 40,000 plus.

As for there being fewer shows, the laws in Walworth County changed, and they can no longer hold concerts on days other than Friday and Saturday. (Certain bands have been given exceptions, but have had to pay a ton to get them). The County has been trying to force the Ampitheater close for years. They are happy to take the money from taxes, as well as from traffic and other violations, but they don't like the headache.

If anyone does Alpine this year it will be Buffett.

As Jimmy said "Man when the weather is good at Alpine it doesn't get any better!"

However, he ended it with "We'll see the next Alpine whenever that is...."

With no DMB at Alpine this year, I'm going to be bummed if Jimmy doesn't make it there either. There's been rumors for years of Alpine closing down. It's not a secret shows at Alpine each summer have dwindled significantly - mostly due to the local laws and curfews, etc. But Live Nation supposedly hasn't helped when they started with Alpine either. Alpine Valley is my favorite outdoor summer concert venue. It really is one of the most beautiful amphitheaters in the U.S. Fingers crossed that Irish Parrot is correct in this prediction.

If Alpine's offering 'season' tickets.. definitely a promising sign that SOMEONE is going to be playing there!

Can't be Beiber. Walworth County Cops would arrest him the second he crossed the County Line....they love busting underage drinking and drug use. With that kind of a warning? They'd have a field day!

They love busting ANYONE without an Wisconsin tag. I can attest to that one. Luckily I got nabbed before the show, and not after.

With the Dave Matthews Band and the Zac Brown Band both playing Summerfest, besides Jimmy who is likely to actually play at Alpine?

Right now I honestly can't think of too many people.

Kenny Chesney not touring in 2014.

Jason Aldean is playing baseball stadiums.

Bruce Springsteen? Garth Brooks? The pool to choose from is quite limited.

Phish has also bypassed Alpine this year to play at Northerly. Since LN owns both Alpine and Northerly, I think they are steering bands that they are closely associated with like DMB and Phish to Northerly to promote the recent expansion of that venue. The question for me is if this is just a one year thing (this year) or is this the beginning of the end for Alpine altogether with Northerly being the preferred venue from here on in.
