Figure now is about as good of time as any to see if anyone has heard anything? Probably a little early, but why not?

I have heard that Alpine is closing forever.

Of course, I have heard that every year for the last decade or so...

Alpine was listed with a broker for sale last year. Live Nation's lease was shown as a 5 year guaranteed revenue stream in the sales offer.

This is from a news article about it...

"The 198 acre Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy Wisconsin is for sale with an asking price of $8,437,500. The 37-year old concert venue has a capacity of 37,000 and is the second largest amphitheater in the United States. A little more than 5 years remains on the lease with concert operator Live Nation, with a guaranteed annual rent of $675,000 for the purchaser. The seller is an affiliate of Zilber Co., which has owned the property since 1989.

The property is under what is known as a “Triple Net Lease,” the offering explains, “with no landlord responsibilities for the maintenance, repair and replacement of the Property for the duration of the lease term.“

Besides maintaining the facility, the tenant pays taxes, as well."

Well, Alpine is alive for at least another season of Live nation putting 3-4 shows in there.

Here is one date we can cross off the Buffett Alpine rumor list.

Saturday July 25.

I just saw on Pollstar that Dave Matthews Band is playing Alpine 7/25-7/26.

Dave Matthews announced today they will be going to Alpine on 7/25 and 7/26. So that is a very good sign the venue is still alive and hosting shows this coming year.

I received a random e-mail from Live Nation trying to sell me Alpine season tickets. It says they anticipate 5 concerts this summer. That would leave 3 more concerts to be announced.

I just took a look back - Bubba's last 3 shows at Alpine Valley have all been the 4th Saturday in August.

I may be wrong...but lately JB seems to be a creature of habit, so I just booked my hotel rooms for that weekend.

Very interesting to see that the hotels in the area are all filling up fast for that weekend......?

:pirate: I think its safe to say that it will be the same weekend in August it has been for the past 3 years. Just wish they wouldn't take so long to announce it. Drives me crazy! I'm sure Hemingway's will say its his last year touring like they have been. But I never believe any of it!

Actually, this year is the last year for Hemingway's, but not necessarily for Buffett. Our dear friend Steve from Hemingway's passed away a few months ago.

I wish it were earlier.  I was at the show in 2009 and dambed near froze that night, and I've lived in Wisconsin long enough to know that in late August it could happen again.

And as far as the rumors of the place being for sale — would that be the entire resort, golf course, hotel, ski area, and all, or just the music venue?

I just saw Alpine for 8/22 and area hotel rates are reflecting that rumor. The Burlington Hampton in is at $189.

It is probably safe to assume that Alpine will not be announced until after crummy Tinley is close to selling out.

Does anyone else think the fact that he is playing no where near the midwest the Thursday prior to 8/22 is odd if this weekend is to repeat its last few years?

The last two years Jimmy has played Jones Beach the Thursday before Alpine.

If I was a betting man, which I am, I'd be willing to bet the Auguest leg will be....

Mansfield, MA on the 15th, Jones Beach on the 18th, Camden on the 20th, and Alpine on the 22nd.
