Amen Harry! (see above). All you have to do is compare the number of reviews for "Tuesdays, Thursday" etc. to the number of reviews written for earlier albums like this one and you can see where peoples heads are at.
This album is great, and musically shows Jimmy in top form (since it was his main focus in life, i.e. before touring, flying, writing books etc.). Plus his singing and guitar playing are in the forefront through the album.

There is no denying it, this IS a terrific album. Is it Jimmy's best? So far it's a toss-up between this one and A1A. The disc starts off well enough with the title track, which is the perfect song for just about anywhere this side of someplace. "Wonder Why We Ever Go Home" hits the mark in this full-length version. The line, "..like drivin' around with no spare" always puts a smile on my face since i drove around without a spare tire the first 6 years of owning my truck. "Biloxi" & "Banana Republics" are both great cover tunes and "Tampico Trauma" is definitely one of Jimmy's top 3 most rocking songs. "Margaritaville"; another anthem. After the years and years of work Jimmy put into this song it is clear to me why so many people claim it to be the song that "turned them on". "In the Shelter" sounds even better than the original. "Miss You So Badly" is the best song for anyone who makes their living on the road. "Landfall"...how many people heard this song and then went out to buy a boat? "Lovely Cruise" is half way from where it should be...at the end of the disc. Though it too, is a very good cover tune. The lyrics will probably be on my headstone when my hairs go grey and i finally disappear.

I found a copy of this album on record today at a used record shop.
At the end of the album, after LANDFALL there is a short acoustic version of CILCIA with Jimmy singing the chorus.
It's only about 30 seconds long but it's still pretty cool.
I've heard that this was only included on limited pressings and on record only.
I believe that this is the greatest album of all time.
Not just Buffett albums.
All albums!!!even THRILLER & LICENSED TO ILL!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

This magical album contains my and my wife's all time favorite Buffett songs although both were not written by Buffett. Banana Republics (mine) and Lovely Cruise (hers). That they were not written by Buffett may seem odd but I heard a version of Banana Republics by Steve Goodman and couldn't stand it so its the Jimmy factor that counts here. Those two songs alone put it in the top 5 of all Buffet albums. CILCIA (song) is way up on the list of all time favorites also. Margaritaville speaks for itself. Everything else is just icing.

I agree with you delta-White Sport Coat is my favorite, but this album is also a classic. No matter how successful and popular Margaritaville is, it will always be my favorite song. I think that the greatest thing to be said about this album is Jimmy's singing. He is very relaxed and coasts through the songs with ease...this is not to be found on most of his records. He truly succeeds here. The other albums that succeed on this level are Floridays, Somewhere over China, Barometer Soup, and to a lesser extent, Beach House on the Moon. This is a must have record, get the gold cd edition if you can--it sounds wonderful!

I started out listening to Buffett in the mid 90's and have since back tracked to his early music. CILCIA is in my opinion his best album. Song for song this CD is terrific. If you're reading this and are just getting into Buffett and want to listen to his older music buy this CD. I consider this an absolute must have for anyone who likes Buffett.
