:o :o :o :o That competition smoker is AWESOME!!!! I got a neighbor that smokes, does good stuff and is thinking of doing some local contests, but, man if he saw that he'd have serious smoker envy.

THe only one I have right now is a Weber Smokey Joe Platinum.

Image

Good grill (as Webers usually are) but they designed it wrong. It was designed to be portable, so there is no air vent in the bottom. They are on the sides, where the silver lid lock attaches. Problem is, thats above the coals so the air doesn't flow through the charcoal and I have problems keeping the temps up. Members on the Virtual Weber Bullet board have a fix....I just have to do it.

I may buy a full size Weber kettle at some point.

What I really want is the Smokey Mountain Cooker

Man, I can taste that brisket now!!!!!!

It took us a month to build it, We have 6 of us on our team and we try to do 2-3 contest a year. We mainly use it for large parties, I cooked 24 slabs of Ribs and 8 Boston Butt's in it yesterday. We have it locked up in the back of a phriends Automotive Shop Under a great shelter area we can cook in it in a types of weather.

I am on my 2nd PM600 built by Texas Pit Crafters. The first one was stolen about 3 weeks after I got it. It is kind of the best of both worlds. On one end you have a smoker with an offset fire box for brisket & ribs, and the other end is the Infra Red Gas Grill for cooking steaks in 6 Minutes. I pretty much just use the smoker, but it is nice to have the grill too. Just picked up some chicken and corn at the store, and I can wait to get that fire going tomarrow. I am sure that Joetown will agree there is just something about the smell of food cooking on a smoker. I love it.

Don't have any pictures of mine on this computer, but this is from their website. Firebox is on the left, and Infra Red Grill is on the right.

I see smokers every day in the shop... been a long time since one impressed me. They put their pants on three legs at a time like everyone else.

I burned out 3 cheap sh!t propane grills over the years and 5 years ago broke down and bought a Weber Genesis Silver. The best investment I've ever made. I BBQ 3-5 nights a week and love my BBQ. I BBQ everything from all meats, veggies to fruit.

Some of us don't live in houses, and have limited patio space.
Also, open grill fires are banned in our city limits, due to fire dangers.

But we do just fine with this little guy. :)

I'm a firm believer in Weber. May pay a bit more, but they hold up and from what I've heard the customer service is awesome.

As for brisket, I have a local farm that sells meats of all kinds. Prices aren't bad either.
