What's this I hear about Jimmy doing Letterman......
the night of June 25, after his concert on the Today Show? I heard something about this from a PHIP club member, I forget where. That would be great, if true.

Letterman
Dave used to record the Friday shows after he did the Thursday show and take Fridays off. I don't know if he still does.

Ah, Cubbie! You never disappoint me!
The person said they heard it on Radio Margaritaville. But maybe he's taping it on Thursday afternoon, THEN doing the Today Show the next morning. He does have a house up there, right? Methinks when he gets back from gallavanting with the hoi-poloi in Paris, he'll be at his house up near New York.

I was going to take the wife up to New York a couple of months ago and I was going to make it a long weekend and check things out. I wanted to catch a taping on that Friday but they don't tape on Friday. They still tape the Friday show on Thursday. If that has changed over the last month or so I am not sure.

The last time Jimmy did Letterman, the show was done from Miami (Coconut Grove) just before "Don't Stop The Carnival" was to open in the same theater. Jimmy wasn't too happy with Letterman that nothing was mentioned on the show about it. Letterman was more interested in "hanging out" with Jimmy since they are the same age. Jimmy's reply "of yeah sure" had a true ring of sarcasm to it. And afterward he said he would never do Letterman again. He would stick to Leno & try Conan, which I know he did once. There may have been even more to it, But who knows.

Actually, my wife and I were in New York last week. We got tickets to Thursday's show (Matthew Broderick) and know for sure that Letterman was taping Friday's show on Friday.
The personnel staff was telling the walk-up crowd there were no more stand-by tickets available, but to call Friday morning to see if any for that afternoon's taping was still available.
I'm sure that will soon change with summer hitting high gear, though.

We got everything but snow.

I had also heard that the feud, if you call it that, extended so far as Letterman buying the land under Autour du Rocher's ruins so Jimmy couldn't use it again. Sounds kinda silly, but Letterman is not small of ego, etc. Of course, it was a "a friend of a friend of mine told me this" for the source.specks wrote:The last time Jimmy did Letterman, the show was done from Miami (Coconut Grove) just before "Don't Stop The Carnival" was to open in the same theater.
