Kansas - "Point of No Return" Tour was probably the best not counting JB....The backdrop was awesome looked like a tall ship undersail.

I saw The Band at a small bar in Charleston SC - had to be 94 or 95. It was awesome watching Levon Helm do his thing.

Buffett in Alpine Valley 2003 (my first Buffett concert. Nothing else will ever compare)

George Strait Music Festival in 1998. I had front row seats for Strait, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, John Michael Montgomery (before he was a lush), Lee Ann Womack, and Lila McCann. Lee Ann Womack pointed at me during one of her songs, too.

actually it was at jones beach the year i worked there.. paul young put on a show and a half .. he totally enjoyed himself and watching 18 year old girls take their bras off made it even better..

Hank Williams Jr. at Cobo in Detroit. '87 maybe?

Jewel in Detroit. '96 ish. Got to sit right on the stage for that one.

Blessed Union at Kewaiden Casino That was fun because it was after I interviewed them on the radio and after the show we hung out and I watched them blow more money in one spin of a roulette then I made in a week.

This one's so hard, but here goes:

Best Venue had to be Buffett at Jones Beach.

Better Than Ezra (circa 1995ish)- the crowd was awesome for the opening band, everyone was pogoing and crowd surfing- you started at the back and pretty much followed a path to one big dude at the front who would set you down safely. I miss the days of safe moshing and crowd surfing!!!

And Cher puts on one fantastic show!! I totally only went because my gay best friend guilted me into going, but it was fantastic.

Got 2 all-time favorites:

1. The first time the Stones played in Sacramento in 1964. There were only about 250 people there. We were all dancing on the backs of the chairs. It was the most fun, the most outrageous, and the most out of control time I had ever experienced (yeah, well, I was only 14). There was so much damage that after that concert, the auditorium banned dancing and even standing up.

2. The Fillmore concert where the Steve Miller Band was the backup band for Chuck Berry. Oh, man, THAT was a great night. Steve smiled the entire time!

The best for just sheer music had to be "The Concert for Walden Woods" at the old Foxboro Stadium in the late 90's. The lineup was 1st Melissa Etheridge (before she came out of the closet but my friend and I knew something was up when all there were was a bunch of women throwing their bra's onstage!) then Elton John (sang "Don't let the sun go down on me" just as the sun was setting) Then Sting just rocked the place. Then there were two unplanned guest act's.....Aerosmith and Yup thats right Jimmy (he had been at Great Woods the previous two nights) and the show ended with host Don Henley. Thats where that version of Don and Jimmy doing Volcano comes from.

Of course any Jimmy show.

Any show by Bruce Hornsby.

Garth Brooks - love him or hate him (and there's plenty of both) he put on a heck of a show.

America/Beach Boys - America opened for the Beach Boys and were completely funny and cool. The Beach Boys, although showing some age, can still put on a great vintage-style concert. Just can't beat those car songs!

Agree with that. I was in the 8th row when he returned to Oklahoma in 1997 and I can honestly say I've never seen anybody put more energy into a show. He kept his ticket prices pretty low but even if the tickets had been twice as much, you definitely got your money's worth.

Also falling into the love 'em/hate 'em category, my personal best concert was The Breeders opening for Nirvana my freshman year of college.
