I also saw my first concert of his in 1987-Honolulu, Hawaii. :D Must have been on the same leg of the concert. (Around October or so)?
Thanks for the welcome. Found this place by accident and have enjoyed lurking around for a while.

October sounds about right. Too bad I can't remember much about it though! :D

I don't think you are ever too young or too old to listen to Buffett.
I do love hearing of a feisty woman and she certainly sounds like one. Lead on, Grandmother!

My friends parents had been fans of Buffett and the Keys for quite some time, and thus passed on their love to him. By 1995, he had recruited another friend of mine and together they convinced me to check out one of his concerts. So it was that in the summer of 95' I found myself on the lawn at Deer Creek Music Center in Indianapolis IN for the Domino College Tour. I had been to a few concerts, but none at a venue that large, and I was astonished by the sheer number of people, and the feel good vibe that permeated the whole place. I was also a month shy of 22, so I was all about getting in the mood with a few Coronas. I was hooked. I've missed one show in Indy since, and have been to Cinci 3 times. I have in turn, introduced all my close friends and Mother into the wonderful world of Parrot-Hedonism, and they have introduced many of their friends. And every year, after leaving the show, I feel priviliged to have just witnessed a true entertainer in action. Thanks Jimmy, wherever you are...
...someplace farther south, where the water's warm, the drink's are cold, and I don't know the names of the players...

It all started for me when my uncle gave me his jones beach ticket to see Jimmy last september due to the birth of his son. (only good reason to miss a show) the show was sick and the tailgaiting was nuts, from there I fell in love with the guy. Being in High School no body really knew any other songs then Margaritaville and such, but slowly I am spreeding the disease to fellow member of my class. Well got to go to my graduation in a half hour. Cya at Mohegan Sun and hopefully Tommy HIlfiger at Jones Beach.
got to stop wishing...got to go fishing

I remember while growing up in old S. Fla., being around 11 or 12 (1972 'ish) watching T.V. and this guy comes on a music show wearing slaps and sits on a stool and starts playing what I would later find out was the White Sportcoat album. I rode my bike up to the record store and bought it right away. Heck, even my mom liked it. My friends all hated it, they preferred the AM radio hits that were being worn out at the time. I bought every album of his that came out after that and even found friends (as I got older) that liked Buffett too. His music and words did much to help shape my life and I found myself traveling to the Carribbean at an early age and spent many delirious daze in the keys through the latter part of the 70's. My babie's lullabies were Chanson Pour le'Petite Enfants and Little Miss Magic. I lost touch with the music in the latter part of the 80's but have recently been "found" again and I can't get enough. I'm a Radio Margueriatville addict and am in the process of replacing my vinyl with C.D's.
Thanks Jimmy... your words and music mean more than you may know.

Kinda stumbled into it... Always knew the Buffett songs on the radio- "Cheesburger in Paradise" "Margaritaville", etc. Didn't really "find" Buffett until 2000 or so. Two years after beating cancer-Heard the live version of "A Pirate Looks at 40" on the Feeding Frenzy CD and was hooked. Been trying to live a "stress -free" lifestyle ever since- I think it was Jimmy's intro to "Pirate" that really hit home- you know the one, where he talks about a friend that never found his occupation in the 20th century, so he chose to live in a fantasy world- Well, what's wrong with that? Next thing I know I'm hitting as many concerts as possible, and hitting the Keys for longer stays at a time. Proposed to my wife on Mallory Square at sunset there........

I always hate to admit this, but I found Jimmy through SYKBH (that's right, the dreaded yellow album). However, I feel I should recieve the benefit of the doubt since I was only 6. But now I have been hooked for the past (almost) 12 years and listen to a lot more Jimmy!

I found JB under a rock.................no joke, i was walking one day and the was JB SYKBH the CD underneath a rock.

The first time I started listening was during a camping trip in high school in the early 90s. My first concert was the Domino College tour. Twenty some concerts later and still going strong.
My whole world lies waiting behind DOOR #3! In the meantime, I am just sippin' on a margarita.........
