"He went to Paris"

this resonated with me so much more this year, as I had my son who was born with cystic fibrosis. JB played this as the last encore at Great Woods on 6/22 (also my b-day), and aside from being sad the show was over, the lines

"some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way"

REALLY got to me. I cried like a baby, and i wasn't even super wasted. It just hit me HARD!

Now, Biloxi fits that mold.

Coast is Clear, definately...or maybe more "reflective"....
Now that they used Biloxi in the Hurricane relief concert, in my mind it will be tied to it. so it definitely would work as a sad memory

Oysters and Pearls

The cd came out the same year as my 20th high school class reunion. It reminded me (and still does) of the hopes and dreams we all had when we were 18 and then 20 years later seeing what happened to all of us after we left the big city of Livingston Montana.

He Went to Paris - same line for me Kerpat: "some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way" - this was Steve's favorite song and he referred to it while healthy and while dying.

I just remembered another one.... Bring Back the Magic.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Tin Cup Challice. I grew up in Miami and now I live in Idaho. I really miss the ocean and the line- "I want to be there, I want to go back down and die beside the sea there" gets me every time.
I do it for the stories I can tell!!!

He Went To Paris: my personal sad choice.

Also, not really "sad", but touching: The Night I Painted the Sky from Barometer Soup. I only saw him play this once, as the final song of the night, accompanied by a fireworks display. That unique experience makes this a special song for me.

Ditto... Tho with Little Miss Magic, it's a bit different. A good friend got married last year, and one of the bridesmaids made up one of those "through the years" slideshows for the reception, using that song for our friend (on my suggestion). The bride and here parents LOVED it, I still tear up every time I hear it.
