"Hoot Success"?

Post by quarterdude »

Does anyone really think "Hoot" will be a great cinematic success? The music is great, but the storyline is not very plausible. Personally, I liked the movie but, I think it will be out on DVD very soon. :(

I'm really not suprised by the low totals on this movie... It looks cute and all, but I'll be waiting for the DVD....

it was only on at the theater here in town for one week. it's already gone. :( i saw it at one of the special previews and the music is fantastic and the story idea is good. It just wasn't that great of a movie. but I will still get it on dvd when it comes out. I have the soundtrack (thanks CBS!) and the keet and i both love it!

Okay, maybe I spend too much time with kiddos but I liked it and thought it was cute. I wasn't ecpecting a total box office hit so maybe that's why I'm happier with the story than othes. The soundtrack ROCKS tho. ANd, I'll buy the DVD when it does come out.

The movie was OK. My ten year old liked it. As for the sound track - they did not play enough of any of the songs during the movie.

I thought it was a great kids movie. More importantly, so did my kids.

So nice to hear...

I am so tired of adults bashing the movie.... its a simple kids movie.... and yes, the book was better but so what?

I still think they should have marketed it as an Afternoon Special. It would be perfect!

It isn't a very good movie and most of the soundtrack is barely listenable. But I'm a grumpy old man so what do I know.

Absolutely. My son enjoyed it, too.

Did someone think this wasn't a kids movie?

I only saw about 10 minutes of the movie. Yes I realize it is a kids movie but from what I saw wasn't a very good one. The soundtrack is pure torture. I agree this would have been better as some sort of afterschool special instead of a full blown hollywood movie. Just my opinion. I really hope I'm not turining into Larry :-? :D

I like the Soundtrack but then again...I like other songs some PHolks hate. I Mollie LOVED the movie...and Mollie just turned 7 years old. Her Momma liked it too!

It is not a simple kids movie. It is Hiassen using a kids book/movie to make a political point...and I'm not saying that is right or wrong, I'm just calling it what it is.

Ice Age is a simple kids movie. Over the Hedge is a simple kids movie. Hoot is not.

BTW, Hoot has grossed $7.3M, and was pulled from 2,200 theatres. Even with a $16M budget, the movie is a bust.
