i love the way you think and you optimism.......but if they keep playing like this....they are done......other than the Orioles series......if i heard right they haven't won a series since the All-star break!!...This i think was coming from Tim McCarver...so i consider the source!!BottleofRum wrote:job41475 wrote:A series win by Saturday evening and a guarantee of leaving no worse than 2.5 games up. life is good!
The winner of the AL east has not won the World Series this century. The Wildcard is where it's at

Whoever doesn't win the East is far from a lock for the Wildcard obviously. A division win may be the only way in.tequilatom wrote:i love the way you think and you optimism.......but if they keep playing like this....they are done......other than the Orioles series......if i heard right they haven't won a series since the All-star break!!...This i think was coming from Tim McCarver...so i consider the source!!BottleofRum wrote:job41475 wrote:A series win by Saturday evening and a guarantee of leaving no worse than 2.5 games up. life is good!

I had to look because there was a good chance McCarver was right
It all adds up to not a good 4 weeks.

But Hanson isn't doing that bad a job in the bullpen, and will be a very good pitcher.tequilatom wrote:and they were in the minors for a while working there way up....Hansen is a year out of college!!!!jonesbeach10 wrote:I do. I believe one of those prospects hit a 3 run homer today. Another one got the win in the first game, and a third is batting .294 and playing a great left-field. So much for a depleted farm systemtequilatom wrote:i don't believe in Prospects coming right in and playing
The point was that the Yankee "prospects" were brought up out of necessity: last year the rotation was in shambles and Wang was brought up and provided stability to the rotation. Same with Cano when Yankee brass finally realized that Tony Womack was a disaster at second. And this year Melky Cabrera wouldn't be with the team if not for Matsui's injury. It was more in response to those that believed that the Yankees had no one in their farm system, and yet they've brought up a host of quality players the past two years.

I see what you're saying, but I along with many other Yankee fans I'm sure thought the chances of us staying afloat in the AL East and making the play-offs were slim considering the Yankees were losing 200 RBIs. Melky and Bernie were more than stopgaps.tequilatom wrote:without those 2 ....they still had a all-star team......and a lot more depth then a lot of teams......6 everday players are all-stars......so i have a hard time with they were sticking with the Red Sox......Other than Manny & Papi...who else was a all-star.......so this poor Yankee stuff doesn't fly!!jonesbeach10 wrote:The difference between these two teams I think is really simple.
The Yankees have lost two of the their best players in Sheffield and Matsui and until pretty much the trading deadline were right with the Sox with Melky Cabrera and Bernie in the corner OF spots, exceeding all expectations. The Sox have lost Nixon and Varitek, and they've taken a huge hit, and are not the same team.
Oh, and that lead-off hitter the Yankees got is some player.
Come to think of it, I think the biggest loss in losing Varitek was not losing his offense, but his catching. Red Sox pitching has been awful since he went down.

i was saying that to my dad yesterday....there era has gone up almost a run and a half without him!!!......The Yankee prospects established themselves in the minors 1st before they really came up!!!....plus they are surrounded by great players which takes the pressure off!!jonesbeach10 wrote:I see what you're saying, but I along with many other Yankee fans I'm sure thought the chances of us staying afloat in the AL East and making the play-offs were slim considering the Yankees were losing 200 RBIs. He got the Red Sox the World Series in 2004 and into the playoff last year when thinngs look bleak the final week of the season.RAGTOP wrote:RJ brought us a World Series Championship in 2004, stumbled a bit in 05 when he made an appearance but he has regained momentum for 2006!!!! I don't want to use him in August unless we absoultly have to, lets give it a few more days.

I have said many many times Terry Fancona is a very overrated mananger. Last night in the 8th inning he was exposed on national TV just how bad he is.tequilatom wrote:all i can say is pitching,pitching,pitching........Sox don't have it!!!
