Captain Larry "Groovy" Gray was the captain of Jimmy's boat/charter airplane pilot into St. Martin and St. Barts/very good friend. Groovy died in an airplane crash a few years back.
There was an earlier post pertaining to Groovy, maybe a month or two ago, and that will give you more info.
If you are ever in Key West or on St. Martin, stop by the Last Mango in Paradise store and pick up some of the Air Mango merchandise, like the hat Jimmy's wearing in the Bama Breeze video. Air Mango was Groovy's charter air company and proceeds from the merchandise are going to help out his daughter. At least that's what I was told down island

Groovy and Jane had been roommates at U of SC...when Jane was down in Key West with friends for Spring Break, Groovy introduced her to his his buddy (Jimmy) at the phone booth outside the Chart Room Bar....Dylsma wrote:Sorry if this is a stupid question but... Salt air it ain't thin,
It can stick right to your skin,
And make you feel fine

OMG, Ragtop! That's what I originally thought! When I then looked it up to find out more about this "goddess", there was nothing. I eventually found remora, "Any of several marine fishes of the family Echeneidae, having on the head a sucking disk with which they attach themselves to sharks", "an animal that sucks on a shark and rides along with the shark".ragtopW wrote:bravedave wrote:For any other ListServ dinosaurs out there:

I thought it was Aremora (like a sea goddess I had never heard of)
BTW, what does this have to do with this thread?
More wagging, less barking.

Wow, you learn something new every day. I've never been able to find the Air Mango stuff on the internet either, which makes it a tad bit more special to actually own it. It is available on ebay, but you can bet the charitable proceeds never find their way to the intended person.

Yep...I'm sure you are right. That's why I'd like to buy one direct to make sure the proceeds go where they are supposed to.frozen bird wrote:I've never been able to find the Air Mango stuff on the internet either, which makes it a tad bit more special to actually own it. A friend of mine bought an Air Mango hat on ebay a couple years ago. They are very nice hats. Mine has "Capt. Larry "Groovy" Gray" embroidered on the back.~Hippolyte~ wrote:All I found on ebay were a bunch of air-fresheners. I know I looked online before, and thought I found something.
