I'm a total and complete fan of Apple products (using a Mac right here),
and I'm thinking about getting the iPhone in the near future.
Like the iPod, it's an incredible device... but I always wait for the shakedown of a hot, new product.
They'll work out any bugs, but it sounds like it's been a pretty successful launch so far!

I was a bit reluctant a few years ago when the IPOD first came out to get one. Now I have 2 and love them. I have Palm treo, it is windows based it plays music, videos, does excel and just about any other windows program. Granted I hardly use the windows progs, excel etc, it is still nice. Email and such are so easy with the touch screen. I often use it to read and post here.

I was thinking of getting an iphone but it doesn't allow 3rd party applications. I use a treo 700w. w/wm5. I need outlook, excel & word for work & it all works on mine. I also have web access & can listen to Sirius radio. Can't w/the iphone. Well not yet anyway...
It does use safari as a browser, much better than ie.

I would have to agree the ability to listen to Sirius and Raido Margaritaville is pretty neat, I have the Palm Trao 750 WX and wouldnt give it up.Tropic_Al wrote:I was thinking of getting an iphone but it doesn't allow 3rd party applications. I got an iPhone for my birthday last month, and I use it every day. I LOVE IT!!!
It takes fantastic pictures. It's so cool how you can scroll through the pictures with your fingers, and make them zoom in and out.
I love getting my email on it, and checking weather. And it downloaded ALL my addresses on Microsoft Outlook, so I started out with a huge address book.
The Calendar is cool, and I use the notepad, too.
I love the ringtones. My default is Strum, and my teenager's is Robot, which sounds like the funny noises he makes. Hubster's is Piano Riff.
Everyone should GET YOU ONE. It's awesome. (I don't use it for music enough, though.)

I started with Mac when they first came out. Had 2 completely crap out on me (one being the rediculously expensive powerbook) and apple would not honor the warranty. You're right...I'll never go back to apple.Lightning Bolt wrote:The sun may rise in the East...Ukulady wrote:Me too! I'm sorry you had such a bad time with Apple...everyone's experiences are different but mine has been great. My husband is a PC guy so it took me a while to get them into our house, but it's been over a year and both my notebook and desktop have been great. I mainly switched over because we were having so much virus trouble on our PC's even with Norton etc., and my nephew who is a computer wiz kid said he knew I would GET mac better (I'm VERY right brained)..I also like there tech support...there's always a human that speaks clear english and they walk me through the problem quickly. I think the longest phone call I've had with them was about ten minutes...I remember being on the phone with PC techs for 90 minutes plus. Anyway, that said if I could afford an iphone I'd get one. And I love my ipod too.

I'm the opposite, I love the touch screen.
I came very close to taking mine back.
I like it, but don't love it .... yet .....
What I don't like:
1) AT&T will not offer insurance for the phone. If you want it insured you have to go through your homeowners insurace.
2) Email is extremely difficult to set up, at least for the providers we have here. Several people that I know returned theirs because they could not get email set up. Mine is set up but connections are very iffy. I had to take it back in to AT&T - they had a very difficult time setting it up also, so it wasn't just me.
3) RINGTONES!! I'm having a hard time hearing the few ringtones that came on the phone. You can't import ringtones, you have to buy the song through iTunes, then purchase that song's ringtone. I think you should be able to make a ringtone out of anything you've already purchased for your iPod and not have to buy it again.
4) You cannot send multi-media messages (i.e. photos) through texting, you have to use email. But email does not always work, depending on where you are.
5) No zoom on the camera and I have not taken a decent photo with it yet. Very difficult to maneuver if you want to turn the camera around and take your own photo -- positioning of the shutter button not easy to find and press.
I like having the iPod in the phone though .... and the photos that I downloaded from my computer. Address book was easy to set up through Outlook.

Wait until June if you can hold out. The iPhone 2.0 will probably be out then.Lightning Bolt wrote:I'm a total and complete fan of Apple products (using a Mac right here),
