That is utter BS. They better keep it to the east coast...no reason for it to go up here.

Just got back from the gas station. Me and my wife made a late night run. All stations still open are backed up onto the streets. Rumor is on the news tonight is that it will go up $1.50 a gallon by 6 am. :o

The excuse will be oil platforms shutdown in the Gulf

and refineries in the Galveston area closed.

Buy now or wait a couple of weeks.

And yet we have a surplus of gas since people are driving less, refineries were going to start cutting production so they had an excuse to play the supply and demand game... Looks like for as much as we are trying to repel Ike, the refineries and oil companies are hauling out the welcome wagon. :-?

But all the fuel already in the system isn't affected by this hurricane?
Oh wait, I'm using logic talking about gas prices. Sorry.

Gas is over $5 a gallon in some places in this state now, we were "cheap"

at an average of $3.48 per gallon.

My stomach turns over and wants to blast out a discharge to ..........

those that make money from oil. The duo family for one!

Was just talking to a friend about this. Gas around here was 3.55$ to 3.60$ a gallon now its up to 3.86$ to 3.96$ a gallon. Don't understand as the price for a barrel of oil has been dropping for weeks and is now around 101$ a barrel.

I remember the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
The invasion happened around 1:30 AM Central time.
C.N.N. (I think) broke the story within a half hour.
By 3:00 AM the price of gas in the Memphis, TN area went from $1.15 per gallon to a WHOPPING $1.45.

Made sense to ME.

Same here. They passed some sort of price gouging bill shortly after that, which has apparently had zero effect. The gas price website says the cheapest around here is now 3.77.

That's about what it is here. I think it's 10 cents per gallon cheaper for the ethanoyl crap, but I NEVER put that sh*t in either of my vehicles or my work car.
