Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
I haven't looked into this yet, but it sounds like an option. I'm waiting to see how the ticket buying goes.no shoes wrote:Thanks for your help with the inter-island travel tips - I am still trying to work out if this can work for me from the UK. Its a lot of flying.........
One option is to travel to Honolulu, with an excursion to Maui via the ferry - is anyone else thinking of trying to do this?
You can tell I don't know much about this part of the world........

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
Question......has anyone stayed in a hostel before??
There is one less than an a mile away from the Shell...the Waikiki Beachside Hostel.....it is dirt cheap, close to the beach and it had great reviews. I've neven stayed in a hostel before is there anyone who can tell me what the experience is like? I know it's not as private as having your own room.....but any way to save $$$ for me is ideal.
I'm most certainly open to meeting new people and adventure....

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
I have also thought about going that route and if you have checked out a few you know that some offer only dorm room accomadations where you are in a room of at least 4 people and up to many more. Some have both dorm, semi private and private rooms. Dorms can be the same sex only or mixed.island_hopper wrote:Question......has anyone stayed in a hostel before??

Whether you like it or not all depends on you. In the dorm setting you have no privacy. If you snore someone may come wake you up. (I know) Depending on where you are you may or may not have AC. That can be a problem if its hot. To bad you are a female(Not that thats bad
Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to ask me anymore questions that you may have.
Greg

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
It has been a LONG time since I have stayed in a hostel. I think through change they have lockers to place your items....or possibly if you have 3 other BNers with you and can share a room and you can lock it (though I would not leave anything of value behind)....it is a good way to save money....island_hopper wrote:Question......has anyone stayed in a hostel before??

OR get a bunch of BNers together and get a room....

If you plan on the ferry, have a contingency plan. It's winter, and if the ocean acts up the ferry can be canceled....

I'll be making my plans next weekend (I hope).... I'm REALLY hoping I can get a ticket to the Shell... I don't think I'll make the Maui show (as I think work will have me a bit "tied up" by then

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
for those who have gone in the past, how hard is it to get tickets to the shell? it look like a pretty small place. does it sell out immediately like most shows?
