reading through this months "Smithsonian" I came across a story relating to a picture taken of the 1979 Naval Academy class. 1979 was the year that the first female midshipmen graduated from Anapolis. The picture shows a female midshipmen, Sandra Irwin, grilling a plebe.

Whoa, those are some memories.
Those pics were shot in the summer of 1979 while the Class of 1980 (the first class with women) was indoctrinating the Class of 1983. (Class of 1979 was the last all male class, and you can be absolutely sure that their plebes (my class) was NEVER left to forget that fact.... )
Sandy Irwin is a member of the Class of 1980. Those pictures bring back a lot of memories!!
Every time I hear "I was supposed to have been a Jesuit priest or a Naval Academy grad" I *howl* at the thought of a young Jimmy Buffett lined up against that wall with his chin pulled in to his spine....
