Morning phriends
Power is back here in Manatee. We were very blessed thankfully. No major structural damage.
Siesta Longboat and Anna Maria have damage but not catastrophic.
Venice down thru Marco not so fortunate. Incredible devastation but so far, deaths not reported in that area.
So many of us have so many places thru the area that we love and are now gone.
Will take a long time to recover.

G'morning Michi and George!
Glad you fared okay with this, George. The damage we're seeing is just unbelievable.

Re: Hunker Down Carolina's FRIDAY @ the MSC
Good morning.
Last night I checked the radar one last time before I went to bed and the storm had shifted slightly east, putting us in the cone of uncertainty. Overnight it shifted back west and we're outside the cone again, but not by much. One of the local weather guys said landfall is expected near Georgetown sometime around noon or a little later. He didn't say if he meant the city of Georgetown or Georgetown county. The city is about 30 miles south of me but the county line is only about 10 miles away, although as big as this storm is I don't think it matters what part of Georgetown he meant. One of the other local guys said landfall will be somewhere between Charleston and Myrtle Beach. That's about 90 miles, thanks for narrowing it down for us.
So far we've had a lot of rain, no flooding yet, at least not in my neighborhood. The wind hasn't been too bad, about 20-25 mph with some slightly higher gusts, but I expect that to change in the next couple of hours.

If it is coming south of you, that puts you on the more dangerous side (as you probably know). Hopefully you are up high, and your car is on higher ground. Hunker down.

Re: Hunker Down Carolina's FRIDAY @ the MSC
Hurricane Ian made landfall at 2:05 at the southern end of Georgetown county, so that's a good 35-40 miles south of me. It's still a Category 1 at 85 mph.
We have a lot of piers in the ocean all up and down the coast. There's a camera near one of them, north of here in a community called Cherry Grove. We just watched the pier get smashed to pieces by the storm surge on live TV. There was also a report that the end of the Pawleys Island pier, which is about 15 miles to the south, was washed out to sea.
I haven't lost power but my internet was down for about 20 minutes and my cable box shut off and rebooted itself twice. And as I was typing that, it shut down and started rebooting again.

As long as you still have cold beer in the fridge, all should be good

Re: Hunker Down Carolina's FRIDAY @ the MSC
We had a bunch of wind on Wednesday and yesterday, which was a cold front which pushed that storm east. Otherwise, it would of had more time to strengthen thru the Gulf of Mexico and the damage would have been even worse.
I went thru Hurricane Ivan in 2004 (and two more since), so I have lived the experience and aftermath. I don't wish what they are going thru in South Florida on anybody..

Hi there! A friend lives in Porta Gorda and fared well, sorta. His neighbor's roof tore off, landed on his roof and it slid onto his carport where his boat was stored. The carport was damaged, but not the boat.
Ona little lake today, there was a thin layer of clouds from the hurricane over the southern part with sunny, blue skies to the north.

If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Yikes. Watching the weather. Busy day today. My last call of the criminal trial session. 111 cases. Took 2.5 hours. Criminal status conferences are October 6….my last of that proceeding. Our law clerk has been WFH every T, TH, F since her 2nd baby was born April 27. Not sure what will happen starting on Oct 17 when I’m gone. But no longer my circus.

I have a few friends in the Orlando area that a associated with Disney. They all told me we didn't need to leave early. They all decided we were smart. Lol
They are all good except for no power. It is slowly coming back. As long as they are safe.
