Caroline Jones
If anyone is interested, Caroline Jones is supposed to be on the 4th hour of the Today Show this morning, which is right now in the eastern time zone. Musical guests are usually on during the last 15 minutes or so of the hour so you can DVR it, fast forward to near the end and not have to put up with Kathie Lee Gifford.

what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

We bought her album already, and it will be listened to a lot in our house. The kiddo loves it.

Re: Caroline Jones
Just got back from another wasted weekend, mucking around with cows, horses and sheep at what would be something like a county fair (if TV portrays those fairs correctly).
So a bit tired but still alert as we have a few bush (forest) fires about.
How's life in Fraziertown?

Life is good in Frasiertown (are you Needling me?) It's windy and rainy, but I can't complain, in some other areas (like MsMod's) the precipitation is sticking.
On our last trip downunder, we attended the Cantebury A&P show in Christchurch (I know, a whole country away from Rabbitzland) so I can envision your weekend!

Re: Caroline Jones
I've gotta say...I've been avoiding RM the past few days because they're promoting the heck out of the Gulf Coast Girl song that JB and seemingly a half a dozen or more artists contributed to. I'm really not a fan of her voice, and, personally, I don't buy the whole gulf coast girl persona either.
I'm sorry, maybe I'm taking it a bit too far, but if this is going to be the "it" song of the summer on RM (and if it somehow makes its way into Jimmy's setlists, whether she's on tour with the band or not), I feel like there are much better Buffett treasures and even up and coming summer music (Wheeland Brothers, for example) that could be played.
Sorry, end rant.

Re: Caroline Jones
I have seen her perform a few times. Last time was with Kenny Chesney. She was not particularly good. I think her voice is too high pitched or it is that she sings in a pitch (octave?) that is a little beyond her reach. I am not quite sure. In concert, we could barely understand/hear her and at times she seemed too timid.
As for this new song/video, are they trying to turn her into a sex symbol? Yes, she is pretty, but is the marketing machine now going to have her parade around town in cowboy boots to generate interest in her music? If you have to strip down to get sales up, that tells you something.
It is wonderful that Jimmy and others support upcoming musicians. But maybe there is a reason Mishka, Caroline Jones and Ilo Ferreira need help in the first place.

This is what I’m getting at...Connecticut girl. Where is that pronounced southern twang coming from?TommyBahama wrote: ↑July 8, 2019 8:43 amWhat is strange with her voice is , she is a CT girl , and she has a southern twang when she sings. I do like her music though.

Beige.
That clip and song are beige. Neither good nor bad, just beige.
Trying to popify something that wasn't there in the first place.
A question, why do artists in the US do this regional thing where they try and alienate the rest of the country? ZBB always banging on about "GA" and this song are examples.

Re: Caroline Jones
When I watched the 2018 Fenway show on Marg TV that night, I was perfectly fine with her singing on Come Monday and Trip Around the Sun. There have been so many live renditions of Come Monday over the years that I thought adding a little different twist to it to make it unique from previous live versions was actually a good thing. And her opening song "Worth the Wait" was a fitting opener because of the whole history of Jimmy breaking the "86 years of perpetual motion" curse thing and all.

Re: Caroline Jones
Caroline Jones is a musician that has a deep appreciation for every aspect of her craft. And happily, the singer/songwriter has more music coming out in the future. Her most recent song, "Being A Woman (Is Like Being The Sun)," was just released. It's a lovely bluegrass-influenced song with lyrics that highlight some of the challenges women encounter on a daily basis. It's a genuinely wonderful song that Jones released just in time for Mother's Day.
