Walked with a 4 prong cane today! So hanging in there. May 1 going to PBA retirement dinner. I'm getting a silver card. A grateful send off from job. I am honored.

WOW!! Never knew you were on the Pro Bowlers Assoc. circuit :pirate:
Any stories about going against Dick or Pete Weber!?! Earl Anthony maybe?
But seriously, best of luck tomorrow with the eye. Keep on Caning on down the road Moog!

When I was a kid of the 70s I watched bowling on ABC. Along with Wide World Of Sports. In my days of pain I sometimes pine for those days. Just to visit not stay. Nostalgic feelings can be dangerous if not balanced.

Same thing in the early 70’s, my junior high years. I lived within a mile of an alley. I’d watch the show, then get inspired to truck up to the lanes & chuck a few games.

Funnily enough, a couple of weeks back, in a Facebook group of old roadies and muso's who all worked together for decades, someone posted a couple of photo's of a pub we all worked together at. The residency lasted well over a decade through the late 70s and the 80s- every Friday night.

She titled the post "If only we could go back for one night".

The consensus was that we would all love to go back for one night, but no one wanted to return permanently.

Someone said that 'nostalgia is the sandpaper that takes the rough edges off memories' and I think they are right...

In New England there is (was) ‘candlepin bowling’. Smaller ball, no holes, thinner pins. Those lanes are disappearing, too.

Yes! When I first moved up here there was a candlepin alley in town. Having grown up in NY, I thought it was so weird... but I have to say it was SO much easier for our young kids to participate than "real" bowling would have been. Unfortunately for the current kids here, the owners retired and sold the property... it is now a church.
