We had a fairly middle-of-the-road setup this past weekend in Irvine
BBQ, big blender, jello shots, lotsa rum, whips, chains.... etc.
The rest of the insanely hilarious raunchy scene around the RV's was like a crossroad between New Orleans, Rio, and Bangkok

We went as far out there as we could this year....we actually broke down and purchased a tiki bar...which was a hit! My dad even brought flower pots from our yard so we could stick our yard flamingos in them. We made about 200 jello shots in plastic easter eggs, bought 400$ worth of alcohol, and made a full blown burger bar.
The best were the people with the VW bug that turned the trunk into an ice chest and made a shark out of it...teeth and all. That rocked!

... does a frozen concoction machine with a small generator qualify for over the top? along with the cornhole game, life-size cutout hula girl, welcome to finland flag, coconut carved in the shape of a monkey playing a ukelele??
I'm just tryin to get by, being quiet and shy, in a world full of pushin and shove

Re: Tailgating....How far do you go?
Here's our tailgating set up for the Jones Beach shows. This year I have installed a draft system to serve nice ice cold draft beer & I am kegging a batch of Margaritas so I'll be able to pour Margaritas straight from the tap !! Be sure to stop by the Tiki Bar for some beer & or Margaritas if you're at Jones Beach this year!!

Re: Tailgating....How far do you go?
Surprisingly close to my Irvine set up but yours is nicer.
Sadly my Tiki Bar has fallen into disrepair as it's been 4 years since Jimmy graced Irvine. It was shuffled around the garage and taken out for the occasional party and tailgate but has now become a storage shelf for all of my concert stuff. It may never come back out as JB doesn't seem eager to come back to SoCal and the po-po gave me a hard time about alcohol on display last show.

Approaching over the top. Bought 3 premier parking passes for 2 cars, that way we have plenty of room. Homemade shark bar - looks sorta like the cover of "Jaws". Life sized "Standee" of JB. If you want your picture taken with JB you have to do a s*** and Blow jello shot or complete the given line of a JB song. Buttons given out to people that say "I got blown" or "I swallowed" (youtube s*** and blow jello shots and you'll get it). This year we are introducing a new gimmick. Come by front row of premier parking in Great Woods to see the new gimmick (don't worry I'm too old to ask to see boobs) and take a picture of JB.

Re: Tailgating....How far do you go?
I was standing at a "game" bar where they had a wheel of fortune and one was "show your boobies". A young lady hit that square and blushingly declined but her friend said "I'll do it" and standing right next to me unleashed a fairly spectacular set of ta-tas. I appreciated the effort and turned to see it was my partner's son's girlfriend. It's made for some fun ribbing over the years.

Re: Tailgating....How far do you go?
I went with Low Key..... cooler and flip flops. It is fun walking around to the other tailgates and see how creative they can be.
I do try to be different as in wearing a beach cartoon type neck tie which I get good comments on. I got it a a garage sale! Will try to post a picture.
EDIT: My college buddy always has a tailgate setup. It is basic. Just a van and a canopy with us all bringing something to eat plus our own cooler. Good to talk about college days.
He gets there about 6am so we are across the gate at Riverbend Cincinnati.

I was there when the term "Parrot Head" was coined in 1985 at the Timberwolf Amphitheater in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Re: Tailgating....How far do you go?
I am middle of the road with the set up. I travel from Toronto to Detroit for the tailgate.
Here is my set-up : Table with tiki tablecloth and grass skirt fringe, tiki bar sign, Fin Land flag, Canadian flag, Toronto Maplereefers t-shirt hanging up. Beads hanging up. and my drink menu:
LandShark Lager, margaritas (frozen), Jell-o Shots, and my famous Hurricanes! Here is the recipe: 7oz white rum, 7oz dark rum, 7oz 151 rum, 21oz orange juice, 21oz pineapple juice, 2.5oz grenadine.
And I always bring enough to share. If you are early enough I also have Bloody Caesars.
If you come by at meal times you can help yourself to a beer brat or cheeseburger in paradise.
Ladies don't forget to sign my t-shirt that I wear: "Looking For A Woman To Blame" on the front. "Wanna Phlock" on the back.
If you are going to the "D" this year look for me.

Haha love this topic. Honestly, I’m so here for tailgate season. Nothing beats good vibes, cold drinks, loud music, and random parking lot dance battles before a concert. I’m usually the one who shows up way too early just to snag a good spot and fire up the grill.
What about you — are you team chill-in-the-trunk or full-on bring-the-canopy-and-cornhole setup?

If anything, I check everything with Overchat AI. It's really convenient, especially when I need to come up with something quickly.

Re: Tailgating....How far do you go?
Funny this was resurrected today, as I heard Kirsten on RM just this morning encouraging all sorts of PH parrot-phernalia at the Reefer/Doobies shows this summer to show the Doobie Brothers fans just how tailgating is done!
