I've done many concerts in ballparks over the years. The performers have always had a set price or the negotiable contract.rednekkPH wrote:Is this in fact true? I've heard convincing arguments on both sides.CaptainP wrote:And, remember, JIMMY DOES NOT SET THE PRICES!!!! THE VENUES DO!!!
ie, Ray Charles........basic show $XX,XXX.00
1/2 hour longer............................+$XX,XXX.00
Sing specific "Hits"........................+$ 1,000.00
To 5,000.00
Incidentals (food,beverage, hookers) 1,500.00

Total to artist....................................XX,XXX.00
Artist pays his people out of that and tour costs
Venue:
Cost of artis......................................$XX.XXX.00
Operating costs per opening X
Security/cleanup X
Promotion/advertising (including comps) X
projected needed profit X
divided by number of seats = Ticket price structure
We built in projected profit into ticket price, making added income from concessions, sponsorships (Continental Airlines Presents Ray Charles)
as gravey above and beyond. And this took into play weather affected shows.
Many years ago, I had it on good authority that Jimmy was over a Million per date in what he charged the venues. In a place like Alpine, that means approximately $28 dollars per ticket covers the Jimmy at that rate. If he is up to $2m then $56 etc. So I guess form your own opinions.
