I agree with her....I think this album is one of the weakest things he ever did. Of course the golden days of Buffett are over, but these songs are terrible.

Having heard the entire record I would be inclined to disagree with you. While I think LTC and Hey Good Looking aren't particularly strong as songs (market appeal being an entirely different matter) there are some GREAT songs on this record... Coast of Carolina, Costal Confessions, Simply Complicated, Someone I Used To Love, Piece of Work...

Sure there's enough twang in about 4 or 5 of the songs to give the anti-country folks plenty to b**** about but honestly this has some of the most interesting Buffett performances since Barometer Soup.

I am amazed at how intolerant people can be of another's opinion. So what a writer didn't like it? The guy is trying to make a living, give him a break. If you disagree with the writer, it does not mean that person is a loser. It just means you have different tastes. If we all liked the same things, the world would be a boring place. You can't expect everyone to have the same opinion, and thank God they don't!

I like to think that there's still such a thing as journalistic integrity amongst at least a few of the writers out there. Writing a column on what she likes for album art is just lazy - it reads like she needed something for deadline and just put pure drivel down on paper. I mean if you're going to write a column critiquing cover art then do it with intelligence... disucss the color palate, the balance of the layout, the relevance to the record.

She's shooting for hip, glib and funny but she either doesn't have the talent or the determination to actually achieve any of them. Instead she has a bland column that's more insulting than it is entertaining. As a writer, other writers being lazy offends me.

Certainly she's entitled to her opinion, and conversely we're entitled to trash her for having no taste.

SHE doesn't like the cover art. What's the big deal? Frankly, I have seen lots of albums that had poor cover art. She may have been given this as an assignment and just had to make the best of it. We need not send her mean e-mails because she disagrees.
I spoke with Barton Bund who did the Margaritaville play in Michigan and it is so silly that someone would call him and speak in a threatening manner. Sometimes Parrot Heads are guilty of what they claim to despise the most. No need to take things so seriously. Honestly, does it matter to your personally if some girl didn't like Jimmy's Fiddler on the Roof pose?
Just smile at it and say, "that's an interesting idear." The "r" in idear is crucial on that one.

other than the Beastie Boys' cover, none of the ones in this girl's collection of Top 10 look like they were anything to write home about, much less a whole column's worth of "news".

I am guessing that since her writing skill indicates English wasn't her major (or even a minor), Art Criticism wasn't in her curriculum either.
