Ybor city is right down the road from the hotels. Cab over and walk around, plenty of pubs and eateries around to discover.
As for someone coming back a "bit more gumbo" find me at the tailgating and will have a nice pot of gumbo on the grill along with plenty of jello shots, shrimp, sausage and whatever else me and the butcher can toss into the coolers!

If history repeats itself yet again, generally this is where the BN'ers gather to start with and then stumble around from there.Jazzy88 wrote:Finally got my tickets -- my first show in Tampa. Where do I stay? Are certain lots better than others? What time do they open? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated

Wait till the day of the show , keep checking the box office. Especially people picking up will calls. Works for me, that's if you're looking for a single.irshfiregrl wrote:Ill be there! Room at the Red Roof til Monday then we shall see where my adventure takes me.

I'm not the greatest at playing the wait game... The OCD planner in me kicks in. Although the last few times i have waited ive been pretty fortunate.

The Land Yacht has arrived and we have tossed out our anchor in Tampa. Looks like at least a 2fer and possibly a 3fer if we can make West Palm Beach happen.

Don't think I'll make it to Tampa this year, but there's always a slim chance.

Re: Who's Going to Tampa April 18, 2015?
What do you guys consider the standard tailgating fare?
I have a lot of people that come to the shows and don't have the equipment to crank out food or even the vehicle for it.
Below is about what I bring and have available. Of course the amount depends on the venue, as some locations really don't have fantastic areas for tailgating (Orlando now at the new Arena
.)
4-6 gallons of gumbo - fresh made on the grill w/ fresh made french bread of course (sometimes even some rice)
20-40 lbs shrimp - grilled garlic parmesan and peel n eat boiled
20-30 lbs smoked and grilled sausage - soaked in Jack Daniels, garlic and brown sugar for about a week
20-30 lbs chicken wings - grilled naked with 2 or 3 sauces
10-15 lbs grilled pineapples - marinated in spiced rum and dark brown sugar
300-500 jello shots (okay thats not really cooking but they are good!) we make 10 different kinds ranging from Mojito to Tequila Sunrise....
We added bacon wrapped smoked beef brisket last year - but the time to make it was just too much, almost 20 hours for just 15 lbs...but maybe, just maybe....
If you get hungry after reading this, find us at the Big Chair with the twin 20 foot flagpoles and grab something to eat!

Yumm! Stay tuned to this thread. If things go as usual, the plans are probably in the works for an epic tailgate party organized by many including the Tampa, Charlotte Harbor, Orlando and The Villages PH Clubs. In the past they have provided all day live entertainment, food and drinks in a well organized tailgating venue.tgatorglass wrote:What do you guys consider the standard tailgating fare?
