GOOF OFF FRI @ the MSC

Good Morning Everybody!

How appropriate for me today......decided yesterday to take a "mental health" day today so I'm planning on being a huge participant in National Goof off Day!

National Goof Off Day is observed annually on March 22. Our research indicates that this day is also known as International Goof Off Day.
It is a day to relax, enjoy and goof off. Do something fun and leave the work until tomorrow. Everybody needs to take a break from time to time. It is often so easy to get so involved in the work and pressures in our lives. So stop, take a break, find something different!
Let any goofy idea pop into your head. Make paper airplanes from seed packets. Doodle pictures of poodles in puddles in Peru. Play a game of Jenga with randomly stacked spice jars. Or do the obvious and spend the day in your pajamas doing nothing.

Oh how I'd love a goof off day! Oddly when I was unemployed for 16 months, I SO wanted to be back working. Now, almost 8 months later, I want a do nothing day!! :D

Off to that work place. Make the best of your day, everyone! :D

Good morning ladies.

Besides being National Goof Off Day, it's an old friend's birthday. When I worked part-time at a supermarket in college, she was the part-time bookkeeper. She's a year older than I am so we kind of lost touch after she graduated and got a real job, she was a nurse. Beautiful woman, long blonde hair down to her waist. Funny thing, after I got to know her at that job I found out one of my best friends in high (a football and track teammate) was her cousin and at one time her father was my father's boss. Last I heard she had left nursing and was a college professor and her cousin was a Lt. Col. in the army. Although at 68 and 67 years old respectively, they're probably both retired now.

My goof off day started with a trip to the DMV. I was dreading it. I neglected to make an appointment to renew my drivers license months ago and it expires tomorrow. Iโ€™d already renewed by mail twice over the last 8 years so I had to make an appearance this time. They open at 8 so I got there as they opened the doors and was done in 45 minutes! Thatโ€™s a record especially here in California. You always set aside 2-4 hours even with an appointment. Whoohoo!
No work today so my daughter and I are supposed to go visit my oldest daughter at her apartment and meet her new pet hedgehog, Reggie. Also sheโ€™s going to give me a massage (my 3 daughters and I are all massage therapists) so yeah, my goof off day is looking pretty positive.

I took a trip to the ballpark so I could cash in the free ticket voucher that I got for donating blood the other day. Then I took a short ride across the street to Broadway At The Beach and I'm having a flight of beers at American Tap House. ๐Ÿบ ๐Ÿบ ๐Ÿบ ๐Ÿบ

When I was coming home I was listening to Classic Rewind on Sirius XM. In honor of Eddie Money's 70th birthday, they're rerunning a show they did with him back in 2007. The DJ asked him what type of places he used to play when he was just starting out. He's a Long Island boy, he grew up in Levittown, and he said he used to play at 2 places called Ryan's and Zoli's near Hofstra College (it's actually Hofstra University). My first 2 years of college I went to Nassau Community College which is Hofstra's next door neighbor. I used to hang out at Ryan's and Zoli's. I never saw Eddie Money.

I saw Eddie Money playing at our local county fair about 20 years ago. He wasnโ€™t even on the main stage. We walked by and I remember feeling a bit sorry for him. He seems to have had a resurgence since then I guess.

Afternoon, lurkers.

Goofing off work to visit family in NJ. We went to a graduation today that was followed by a really nice reception with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Tonight we're heading to a steak house where our friend is the chef. Tomorrow we are going to the family party for the graduate that will be catered by a wonderful Italian restaurant. [smilie=yum.gif] And then it's diet time after all that food because we have vacation coming up soon.

Hope y'all are having a wonderful TGIF! 8)

He played the House of Blues here in Myrtle Beach about 3 years ago, his daughter sings in his band now. They did a meet & greet after the show and I got both of their autographs. He looks like he's led a hard life.

We were busy at the flower shop all day today. A large number of orders for delivery today, and a lot for a funeral that needs to be delivered by 8:00 tomorrow morning. I am off tomorrow but have a dinner for my father in law's 85th bday which is on Monday. On the upside, my boss wants me to bring in margaritas on Fridays! Yay ๐Ÿ™Œ

Enjoyed the recap of today. I will always wish for more folks to return, it was nice to not have to read 20-30 + pages that the MSC used to have. :)

Today/this week was crazy busy. We're moving offices/hospital rooms, construction, our Denver South hospital is closing (on purpose, not profitable, and we've been able to keep 90% of employees with a transfer to our main Denver Hospital and mine) and general nuttiness.

So this afternoon I armed myself a small container of bubbles. And I went into the offices and areas that were the most stressed. (No patient rooms). And I proceeded to blow bubbles. I got grins, laughs, giggles. Just what I was hoping for. When I went back to my office? I just smiled and thought, yep, I finally 'belong and part of the family' for my job. It was a good feeling.

I got some lunch around 11:30, but didn't eat till 1:30. Wasn't hungry when we went to dinner with a family friend. Just had a large salad that I couldn't finish.

About to fall asleep finally. But still watching DU in the in Frozen Face-off Semi Final.

Sleep sweet friends. (Happy it's raining, and not snowing)!!
