We used to have a nesting pair of bald eagles here too, in one of the state parks. I say "used to" because I haven't seen them in at least 2 years.
Good chance it was an eagle, Molly. They are often close to the nest to get food to the young With my weakened sight, I often mistake vultures for immature eagles if I have only a glance, but I can identify them if I can watch them for awhile.springparrot wrote: ↑June 12, 2019 9:41 pmI would love to see an eagle in the wild. We have/had a nesting pair in our area. I went to see them and saw something flying but it was so high and not sure it was an eagle.bodypainter wrote: ↑June 12, 2019 8:50 pm Hi there! I kept a loose count of eagle sightings this year, seeing the birds 15 times, with some sightings of two birds together. Today I watched six eagles soaring overhead! I've seen flocks of vultures and thought that of the eagles till I watched closer. It's great we saved these magnificent creatures.
I often fish close to a nest and listen to them" talk". It is a very pleasing series of sounds that comes from an apex predator.
That's the reason I said has/had....construction got the Tree they used to nest in. They were suppose to have moved to an island in the lake but not sure.
