Fruitcakes On The Bus FRIDAY@ the MSC

Post by bodypainter »

Good morning BN. I like fruitcake. It is similar to my mom's steamed pudding. There isn't much of holiday sweets I'll pass up. What's your holiday treat?
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good Morning Bill........BN'ers!!
No Bus ride for me today!
Holiday Treats?? OMG.....I don't turn down much either.....but I'm not hell bent on anything in particular. I'd say my #1 holiday treat (please don't judge [smilie=shake.gif] ) is sipping Irish Cream. :D Sipping,
Hoping for a productive weekend. Can't be scrambling around last minute for the holidays this year. (yeah, right)

Morning BNers

Haven't been to bed yet. Got a lot going on. Hoping things turn around soon.

Good almost afternoon. It's supposed to rain today but so far we're having a pretty nice day, the sun's shining and it's about 60 degrees.

I have to make a quick supermarket run. Doofus that I am, I went grocery shopping the other day and forgot to buy milk. How am I supposed to have my corn flakes tomorrow if I don't have milk? [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]

Corn flakes without milk isn't too bad.

Afternoon, BN. Looking forward to a two day weekend. Have a good one.

I had corn flakes with beer in my younger days. I prefer milk. And I like fruitcake with milk.

Molly, hope all is well.

My favourite Christmas treat when I was a kid were fruit mince pies. Not any fruit mince pies, mind you.

The "old lady across the road", Miss Graham, was a miracle worker with baked goods. Every Christmas she would make all of the traditional things, steamed puddings, Christmas cakes so dense and packed with brandy soaked fruit you'd get a hangover, rum balls, etc. Her fruit mince pies were something else, I can still taste the cinnamonny, clovey, spicy, fruity goodness.

She passed away when I was 10 or 12 years old. I have searched the planet for mince pies since then, but nothing comes close.

Can I implore you that if you have a relative or friend who cooks or makes something special like that, get them to teach you how it is done before, we as a species, lose the knowledge!!!!!

I drink milk with all my meals, unless I go out to eat, so it isn't just my corn flakes. But I made a pot of chili the other day and there's still some left so I can have chili and beer for dinner.

Ah. Milk in liquid form doesn't do my stomach any favors. Cheese and yogurt are ok.

My mom was a fantastic baker. As a newly married idiot, I critiqued my wife's pie to be as good as mom's. Mom made me a mince pie for for my birthday for years.

I have never liked milk. I used to gag it down to appease my Mother but I hated it. I have consumed hot cocoa but I don't remember the last time I drank plain milk.

We were slamming at the flower shop again today.
I like fruitcake too, and Bryan likes mince pie too! I haven't made him one for ages. I make several flavors of chocolate truffles, buckeyes, iced sugar cookies, peanut brittle, toffee, kiss cookies, pecan diamonds, magic cookie bars, orange pecan cookies, melting moments and lots of other Christmas treats...not all of these every year, but I rotate. I also make 2 kinds of cheeseballs. I have drastically shortened my list for this year! I'm exhausted just thinking about getting it all done. ❄⛄🎄🎅

I don't drink milk either. Unless its mixed in my favorite Christmas drink called Moose Milk, or hot cocoa.

I love Christmas cookies, especially gingerbread. Maybe this year I will make them from scratch again. I have my mom's Betty Crocker cookbook and that has the best recipes in it.

Molly, I hope all is well with you and yours. Thinking of you.
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Hi there! I worked our holiday lights tonight for 3 hours. 198 cars drove through the 20 acre display. I have a glass of wine now. Life is good.
