Re-Gift it THURS @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Hello All!

Today is National Re-Gifting Day (perfect timing as you go through holiday boxes and attend social functions :). We're attending a small dinner party on Dec 29 and have already wrapped our "gifts".

Does anyone have an item that is re-gifted annually?

NATIONAL RE-GIFTING DAY

Each year on the Thursday before Christmas, people across the United States participate in National Re-gifting Day. The day acknowledges the office parties and the unique Christmas gift exchanges that they do. This particular December Thursday appears to be the most common day for companies to hold their annual employee/company Holiday parties.
As a method of recycling, approximately 14%, of those surveyed, believe that regifting is becoming more popular, for that reason alone.

HOW TO OBSERVE #NationalRegiftingDay
While it may be an official holiday in some states, we recommend caution when deciding to re-gift something. The term does suggest, after all, that the item is unwanted to begin with, and may be unwanted by its next recipient.
Keep in mind the following re-gifting etiquette when considering participation in this holiday.
Re-gift only when certain the recipient will enjoy your (unwanted) gift. If at any time you referred to it as junk, clutter or dust collector, it’s probably not re-giftable.
Don’t hurt anyone’s feelings. If the gift had special meaning to the original giver, don’t re-gift.
Don’t re-gift if the item is handmade or personalized. If Uncle Joe spent his spare hours whittling that panic whistle, you should keep it.
Be careful not to re-gift something to the original giver. If you aren’t sure who gave it to you, don’t re-gift.
On that same note, to avoid embarrassment, re-gift only when you are sure the new recipient won’t tell the original giver what they received from you. (Is it starting to feel deceitful yet?)
Re-wrap all gifts and remove any tags that may suggest you didn’t do the shopping for the re-gifted item.
Be prepared to answer questions about the gift. Questions such as “Where did you find this? I’ve been looking everywhere for one!” may give up the secret if you aren’t able to give a convincing answer. (It should really start feeling deceitful, now.)
If at any point you find the above list exhausting, then you probably should reconsider re-gifting. On another note, the game of perpetual re-gifting in some families is celebrated year after year.

Good morning Linda, and Deb.. Can't remember ever re-gifting anything.

Off to that work place. I'm tired, and don't wanna.

Make it a good one! :)

Morning, BN. I've never re-gifted but might do so if needed.

According to the Weather Channel, it's 18 degrees with a "real feel" of 2. That's not too bad if you're walking.

Have a good one.

Good Morning Gang!!
I really don't think re-gifting is necessarily a bad thing. I think each situation wherein it may be ok is different. With the biggest factors being based upon who you received the gift from & whether it would indeed be a "good fit" of a gift for the end recipient.

Good morning! My husband's family has a party every Christmas and we used to draw names for a gift exchange. One year one of his sister's couldn't get any ideas from the other sister for a gift. So as a gag, she bought an ugly blue ceramic cat and that was the first gift she had to open. The next year, that sister passed it onto someone else...the cat keeps making the rounds! I have never gotten the ugly Christmas cat yet. Happy re gifting! 😂😂😂

Good morning all. I like the ugly cat story, Tammy. Passing gifts on is fine and sometimes needed to get that weird thing out of the house. One man's FRAGILE is another one's regifting.

Good morning. Tuesday it was 75 degrees, yesterday it was about 45-50 and when I woke up this morning it was 33. I guess I shouldn't complain, at least it was above freezing and it didn't snow.

I went to get my haircut and it was pretty crowded so I had to wait a little over 1/2 hour. While I was waiting, a guy walked in wearing a polo shirt and shorts. It's 42 degrees.

Happy Birthday, Steve.

Well the working year is drawing to a close (thankfully). It did not, however, go to plan.

Late last week I received an urgent job to update nine maintenance manuals, exactly why it was urgent is still a mystery - who will be doing maintenance over Christmas? So, accordingly I busted a gut to get them done by Friday and off to the army for review.

On Tuesday I get a message that I had missed a whole bunch of stuff. After checking, it was found that they had never given me the mark ups for that work! On Wednesday I got the new mark ups, the thing is the deadline hadn't changed!

It is now early Friday morning, on the last working day of the year, in fact it's not yet 7:00 AM and I have been at it for two hours now, and I have just started the compilation of the last manual.

I need a holiday. Oh and I need an adult beverage and as I said it's not yet gone 7:00 AM.

Afternoon BNers

Update on varmit: Pest control was here earlier than scheduled. She found the hole and will fix that. Also will leave traps. She thinks it could be a squirrel. If it is, it sure is big and makes so much noise. 🙄😳

all I can think of is the squirrel on the loose in the Griswold house in the National Lampoon movie Christmas Vacation [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

Lol
Don't think it is a squirrel but if he is, he sure makes noise. And if he is, our tree isn't big enough for him to hide in.

Did you hear about the family that found a tiny owl in their tree??? After they got it in the house, it found its way to the tippy top. 😳

There was a story on the 6:00 news about the police looking for a guy who stole a car out of someone's driveway. The person whose driveway the car was stolen from is the chief of police. I think there might be more attention paid to this than your average car theft case.
