Good Morning everyone!
Today is National Sloppy Joe Day

-- so here's some useless trivia on this special day. (at Ringville we call this food "hamburger BBQ" and it is homemade -- I've never bought a can of "sloppy joe")
No matter how you make this hot sandwich, on March 18th, celebrate National Sloppy Joe Day.
The Sloppy Joe is one of Americaβs all-time favorite hot sandwiches. Its base ingredient is often ground beef. However, others use turkey and buffalo, too. The other elements give it its flavor, though. Onions, tomato sauce, brown sugar, cola or maple syrup to sweeten it and seasonings to spice it β and of course, any secret ingredient families may add over the years. All of it is served up on a hamburger bun or roll. And is it ever sloppy! Be sure to grab more than one napkin!
Who Created The Sloppy Joe
Meet Joe
There are different claims to the origin of the sloppy Joe. In Havana, Cuba, in the 1930s, there was a genuine bartender who gained popularity with vacationers who went by the name of Sloppy Joe. He earned his name for his less than enthusiastic way of cleaning the bar. He was, however, an attentive bartender, and the bar was a hot spot for the jet set.

Good morning Linda. I ate my share of Sloppy Joes before marriage. Once a year is the norm now. We'd rather have burgers.

Good morning Linda and Bill!
I've not made Sloppy Joe's in a long time. Just not my favorite thing.
Off to that work place again. At least the traffic has been great. Snow coming tomorrow and Friday. Yay.

Have a good Wednesday!

Good morning Nancy and Penny. this isolation is getting me cabin fever. I was a loner as a kid and made up for it of late. With less contact, the MSC is a nice connection to PHriends.

Good morning. I can't remember the last time I had a Sloppy Joe.
I have an appointment to donate blood this morning. The blood drive is at the mall but I got an email from the Red Cross a couple of days ago that they were moving from inside the mall to bloodmobiles in the parking lot. I've donated in the bloodmobiles before, there isn't a lot of room inside.
The governor issued an executive order yesterday, all bars and restaurants can only do take out, no dine in. I'm pretty sure he only means food, not beers to go.

This is great. We should do a shelter in place forever. Police call volume has dropped. Just waiting for the people going stir crazy and stabbing each other

He may change it so that you can get take-out beer *with* your food. I know NYC and NOLA have that policy.
Morning, BN. Haven't had a sloppy joe since I was a kid. Wonder if I can find a place that makes it.

PA Gov did that effective Monday, March 16 but as far as I know beer can be "to go".

We've got our 1st confirmed case in Lancaster County.
There's (another) Emergency Board of Judges Meeting at noon. Seems like we'll be out of here today for an extended period of time. That means I will be able to keep an eye on Kevin (who is also employed by the County of Lancaster) since he is out (as of now) until Monday, March 30. [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

In random office news today...
The cleaning people just came by and sprayed disinfectant in the office. Just one little squirt. Like that was going to do anything.

Afternoon BNers
Harris county courts have been closed almost a week. Courts were closed before bars!
Parents were having melt downs because their kids were in juvie and couldn't get to them...
Maybe they shouldn't be doing things to be there???

They were taking everyone's temperature before letting us inside the bloodmobiles to donate. They had 2 bloodmobiles, while I was sitting there with a needle in my arm I looked out the window and a woman came out of the other one and passed out in the parking lot. She was still there when I left.

Well we've been to Sloppy Joe's on Duval but until recently hadn't eaten that particular culinary concoction.
A couple of months ago we came upon a tin of it in the 'international section' of a supermarket. Grabbed some buns and started looking forward to dinner.
It was, ummm, interesting. It was oddly sweet, not what we expected.
We've managed to walk past it at the supermarket since...
Yes, I know, it's a bit rich coming from someone who grew up on and still lives on Vegemite.

it's official. The Lancaster County Courthouse and all court proceedings are suspended from 5:00 today until 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14 (unless extended)
There will be 2 judges working each day. One criminal; one family. The current 14 judges are on a rotating schedule so I will be working tomorrow, then Friday, March 27, then Monday, April 6.
I will also be accessing work emails, court filing systems and our "One Drive" so some work will be done on those "off" days.
