What if Shemp is on the jury? That may influence the decision.Saltx3 wrote: ↑May 25, 2021 1:57 pmso -- defense counsel wants to raise self-defense....here's the scenario.Saltx3 wrote: ↑May 25, 2021 7:29 am Good Morning Everyone.
It's Tuesday which seems to occur every 7 days.
We are starting an 8 day homicide trial today. Jury selection will be tiring as most won't want to be involved for 8 days at the pay rate of $9/day for the 1st 3 days and then $25/day for days 4-8.
Guy, let's call him Larry, is in his house; looks out window; sees "rival", let's call him Moe, sitting in the passenger seat of a car across the street.
It's 8 a.m.(this is relevant because it is light outside).
Larry leaves his house, carrying a gun that he is NOT licensed to carry. Larry leaves his breakfast cooking on the stove. Larry walks up to the car in which Moe is sitting. Larry shoots Moe through the window, looks up at the security camera and slowly walks away from the car.
Larry's breakfast has now started a fire in his home, the fire department is called and they find Larry's wallet in the house.
Larry is soon arrested.
Larry admits under video interrogation that he shot Moe.
Easy Peasy verdict, correct -- well, obviously not since Larry shot Moe "in self-defense". How can this be you ask? Welllllll, Larry has heard that Moe is angry with him because Larry was apparently somehow involved in the death of Moe's brother, let's call him Curly.
So Larry, fearing for his life when he saw Moe across the street, exited the safety of his home, with an illegal weapon and shot a man who, as the crime scene proved, was unarmed.....makes sense to me.
Wonder what the 12 jurors will decide?
Who's got the rum?
