1st time getting the ski in the water this year. Felt so good to be on it again!

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I'm getting ready to watch the hockey game, it started at 8:00 but I'm DVRing it so I can fast forward through the commercials. If the Islanders lose tonight the series is over and it'll be the last game they play at the Nassau Coliseum. My graduation from Nassau Community College in 1972 was at the Coliseum, about 5 months before the Islanders played their first game there.

The Pelicans are on a road trip. I just checked the score, they're winning 3-0 in the 7th inning and they're pitching a combined no-hitter, 5 innings by the starting pitcher and the relief pitcher is in his 2nd inning.

Are you seeing the Pelicans' starters go much past 5 or 6 innings?

The Pelicans starting pitchers don't have a lot of wins this season because they don't make it to the 5th inning very often and the starter has to go 5 to get a win. I can kind of understand it though, the league they're in was reclassified from High A to Low A this year and most of the pitchers are 20 or 21 years old. Teams don't want to let young guys pitch a lot of innings.

A good approach in A ball, protect the player and the club's investment. But I would sure like to see a major leaguer go farther.
