Sorry that this is lengthy - it was a recap I sent to my sister who wasn't able to join us today for Mom's visit. Just updating you all, for those who ask and such.
We got there right at 11:00 - a bit of disorganization at the front door with temperatures and signing in - we weren't the only ones there at the same time.
We were shown to a table in the dining area on the opposite side of where we used to sit. Decorations in the building were cute. Eny (activities Director) brought Mom to the table, and she was telling Eny she wouldn't believe someone was there to see her, unless she saw it for herself! LOL!! The food was set up buffet style - just hot dogs, thin hamburgers, condiments, pasta salad, baked beans, cookies, chips in a bag, and red/blue jello with whip cream on top.. Each table took their turn - there was a VERY polite and sweet young man named Jordan that helped Mom get her plate as I nodded or shook my head no at things. Even Mom was impressed with him!!! Mom ate 1/2 of the hot dog (I cut up bite sized pieces and no bun) a few chips, a few bites of pasta salad and the beans. She even started eating the jello, and went back to her lunch, and never finished the dessert! She did have one of the small (kinda Oreo sized) chocolate chip cookie, and liked it.
We chatted about the usual stuff, showed her some fireworks displays on my phone. Overall she had a nice time.
She did ask about seeing Dad again about 6 times. I don't think she remembers that he's dead. And while she commented several times about being there a long time, she agreed it was a very nice place, and it was very clean. No 'mean' comments about the staff or such (she has before).
It was GREAT to see Holly (head Chef) again. BIG smiles, lots of hugs, and said she found some lactose free ice cream, and Mom only has it once or twice a week, and isn't throwing up any more. That was good news.
Monya (sp?) had one very nice thing to say - blew me away. She said, "I don't know if anyone has every told you or Kathy, but every morning when we go into your Mom's room, she ALWAYS wakes up with the BIGGEST smile on her face!! Several people commented on Mom's smile, and I loved that.
We walked Mom back to the TV area where several were gathering, getting close to 1:00. Told her there was a comfy chair there along the pony wall, and she matter of factly said, "That's not my seat"... "hers" was the one next to it. LOL!!!! I hugged her goodbye, said we had a nice time, and I loved her. She said she loved me back, and added, "You're a good girl". Awww.. I felt twelve.
They hope to do this again soonish, now that they can.
