There are mixed blessings of living amongst the vines in the Barossa Valley.

Up early today, to continue chipping out weeds on the block with a mattock. My back is killing me.

The surrounding vines are heavy with fruit and harvest is ramping up, so the teams are out before sunrise with the shotguns and bird fright cartridges. It sounds like the Trap Final at the Olympics each morning and evening at the moment.

So, after chipping another 1/2 acre of weeds, I need to get out the chainsaw and "trim" the callistemons around the back gate - it is the short cut to the pubs and cellar doors so is quite important.

Then, every so often, the Barossa throws something up that makes it all worthwhile....

Happy Cameron's birthday, y'all! Just came from a 5 y.o. birthday party this afternoon, it was actually fun, kids played in the snow all day and the parents were fun and interesting.

Glad to be home though, I'm pooped just from that few hours.

Thanks, everyone! The birthday boy has had a pretty good day, and the casserole was nearly perfect.

Now I'm hungry.

Time to crack open a beer and get ready for the hockey game. The NHL Stadium Series is tonight, they're playing in the Tennessee Titans stadium in Nashville.

We picked up our beef after having breakfast at the local diner. Dropped off half to the youngest daughter. Came home and I made Peanut Butter Delight for dessert tomorrow.
Then we went to dinner at the local Mexican restaurant and went to a play by the local theater group.
I'm ready for bed.
