RIP FINGERS …..The Songwriters Joint Honors Fingers

Post by FinsUp6835 »

Head on over to songwritersjoint.co as we are proud to celebrate and honor Greg "Fingers" Taylor !!

The mission of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) is to provide support, services, and education to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide, and fund research for better treatment and a cure.

At The Joint we honor and celebrate The Harpoon G.O.A.T. Greg “Fingers” Taylor, a legendary musician affected by Alzheimer’s. Fingers is an American harmonica and blues artist best known for his work with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band. In addition to appearing on tour for over 30 plus years and on the majority of Buffett’s albums. Fingers also recorded with James Taylor, Chris LeDoux, Jerry Jeff Walker, Mac McAnally, Little Milton, Al Kooper, Jimmy Hall, Tim Krekel, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Michael Nesmith, Bo Diddley, Larry Raspberry, Debbie Davies, Don Nix and The Tams. Fingers gave his life to music and identifies with the soul and feeling of it just like all of us here at The Joint. We could not be any prouder than to honor such a musical legend and hero. Fingers was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2011 and we are proud to give back in honor of him and every person affected by this disease.
"Tragedies very often become comedies, and they better become comedies real fast or else you're in a lot of trouble..." - Jimmy, 1978.

Has anyone heard how Fingers is doing? Had a chance to say hello to him in Chicago one time. He seemed like a nice guy.

Unfortunately he’s very ill but is comfortable and has care. Exciting things coming to honor him more down the line

The Joint tributes the 1980s decade!

The GOAT tributes the Fabulous 80s decade and celebrates the birth of Gulf & Western Music. Put your top down, call your blonde stranger and throw on this original tee and get off the knees of your heart. Key West Legend, Jim Harrison says, "This sound has a musical range expanding in an arc from Bob Wills to Bob Marley with the Gulf somehow always there." Pay tribute to former 1980s Coral Reefers Josh Leo, Sam Clayton, Matt Beton, Fingers Taylor, Timothy B. Schmidt, and Tim Krekel who helped make this original sound we all love so much. A fun fact is the Riddles in the Sand album was originally going to be called Gulf & Western Music! Riddles inspired font and blue tri blend fabric for that relaxed weekend feel. Unisex tee

The Joint tributes the album A1A and the amazing track "Migration."
Some proceeds benefit AFA in honor of Fingers Taylor!

Whoa! The Joint is lookin back at our background and trying to figure out how we ever got here while The GOATs just livin’ in the sunshine and staying contented most of the time. You know we are all just listenin’ to Murphy, Walker, Willis, and all of the Songwriting Legends. Inspired by one of The Joint’s favorite banger tracks off of the legendary album A1A. Rock the tee and live out these song lines. We got a Conky Tonkin’ Soul and definitely some Texas hidden here in our hearts. Sweat-stained Bogart suit and Cussin’ African Parakeet not included.

Tri blend fabric for that relaxed weekend feel. Colors are inspired by the album with a red tee and white penned script font.

1978 Cheeseburger In Paradise Tour jacket given out to crew and band.

Size Medium.

Full proceeds Support AFA in honor of Fingers Taylor.

1978 saw Jimmy begin his own tour with the Coral Reefer Band, spending March and April playing along the east coast and diving into the mid-west for the first time. On May 1st, Jimmy broke his leg for the first of three times over the next year in West Palm Beach at a baseball game. June brought a California tour of which included a few shows opening for Jackson Browne in San Jose and Angels Camp, CA. August brought some Florida stadium shows with the Little River Band and the Steven Miller Band along with the infamous 3 shows in Atlanta and Miami which were recorded for the live album "You Had To Be There." Jimmy then apparently took some much needed time off as no other dates have been uncovered for the rest of the year.

ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSIC DUOS OF ALL TIME.

One evening in the early 1970s, a Southern Miss sophomore was, as he later recalled, "just wandering through The Hub,...and there was this guy with long blonde hair and a mustache playing...to about five little old ladies on break from their night class.” Captivated by the sounds he was hearing, the young man, who had recently been honing his own skills on the harmonica, asked if he could sit in on a number or two. "So we got up there,” he remembered, "and it was just sort of a chemistry, just one of those things."
The student was, as he came to be known, Greg "Fingers” Taylor, and the guitar-strumming singer was a recent Southern Miss grad named Jimmy Buffett. "The next day,” says Taylor, "I was driving him to his parents'' house in Mobile, the sun was coming up, and Jimmy was singing; there was a bonding that occurred there at that point; we knew that we were going to play music together somewhere down the line."

**THIS ITEM WILL SHIP IN 14-18 days. Thanks for your patience, dude.
