Recapturing SATURDAY @ the MSC

Post by Dr.Corona »

Good morning BN’ers!
First Saturday since beginning of the year I have Saturday off from work as “tax season” has come to a close. While business end of the quarter work still needs to be done I determined today as a much needed recharge the batteries day. Probably be back at it the next couple Saturdays but then should be back to 5 day a week work weeks!

Today is also my fiancé Lynn’s Birthday. In a bit of bittersweet irony tomorrow is my late wife Carol’s birthday, born the same year but the 1 day apart. I Definitely try & compartmentalize the situation.

FYI….Enjoy your “Earth Day” Saturday gang!

Good morning, Ken. Man, you have a lot of stuff on your mind. I prescribe a booth at a bistro for you and your fiance' with a birthday cake as a suprise.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Afternoon BNers

Happy Earth Day!!!
We actually have pretty blue skies!!

Nothing planned today. Maybe a few loads of laundry...oh goody.

Astros won last night. The game was on Apple TV so I had to listen on the radio. Not my favorite.

Remember "the good old days" when the only baseball on TV was the "Saturday Game of the Week?"
The good news is that I was a Yankee fan as a kid and they were always on... I got to see Mickey and Yogi and listen to Pee Wee Reese and Dizzy Dean almost every game. ⚾

Good afternoon. It's been raining on and off all day. The rain stops, the sun comes out, then 20 minutes later it's raining again. At least we haven't had any of the thunderstorms they were predicting.

I was watching the Hurricanes-Islanders game last night, the NHL's TV contract allows teams to televise first round games on their local channels so I watched the Hurricanes telecast instead of the national telecast on TBS or TNT, whichever one it was on. The Hurricanes have a player named Jack Drury, he's a rookie. The announcer said his father Ted played for the Islanders. I've been an Islanders fan since their first year in the league and I don't remember anyone named Ted Drury playing for them. I do remember Jack's uncle Chris. He played for 4 or 5 teams in the NHL and was on a Stanley Cup winning team in Colorado. He was also on 2 silver medal winning teams for the U.S. in the Olympics and when he was a kid he was on a Little League World Series winner. He's the President and General Manager of the NY Rangers now. He's the only one of the 3 hockey playing Drurys who didn't go to Harvard.

Ted Drury played in 55 games for the Islanders in the '99-'00 season. He had 2 goals and 1 assist... hardly memorable.

I looked up the 1999-2000 Islanders, they finished last in their division and 13th out of 15 teams in the Eastern Conference. There weren't a lot of players on that team that I remember.

Nope. Don't remember that. When I was in upper elementary grades, we had a teacher that would let us listen to the World Series games during off times in school on our transistor radios! It was so much fun. ⚾️

I don't recall him either... I see from SPH's post that he was on the '99-'00 team.
We were not on the Island then and did not get to see many games, so I am not surprised his name did not ring a bell.
NESN carried the Bruin, so the games they played Boston were pretty much the only ones I saw, as they were not "elite" enough then to make the national games! I am not sure what channel I was watching last night. We just got a new cable box and the remote works by voice, so I just said "Islander Game" to tune in! I know the first 2 games were on ESPN2 because I watched those on my laptop (Jim was watching something on the TV) but I think last night ~might~ have been on TBS. I was just relieved they won!! :D

Good afternoon!

Another visit with Mom this morning - her gibberish was funny, so we had a good visit. Stop at the liquor and grocery stores.

Woke up to about 3 inches of very wet snow. Good for moisture needed.

Rockies are currently tied 3-3 against the Phillies. A miracle. Avs play tonight, their series is tied 1-1. Nuggets played last night, they are leading their series 3-0 :D

Dinner tonight will be lemon/butter salmon, rice, and corn.

Laundry going, still doing bits and pieces of Summertime clothing getting ready for vacation...2 weeks from today!! :D

Get that snow outa here, Penny!

There is a Lake Erie cruise in August that PHriends invited me to take, featuring the Boaterheads. I watched a youtube of them. The video is a compilation of tunes, all Yacht Rock stuff.

Good evening.

I had a fairly leisurely day since I got most things done yesterday. Took a 3 mile walk around a local park with a great pond and lots of trees. We got a red weather alert around 6 and it dumped with lots of winds. Sirens everywhere with lots of power lines down.

I’ve got a work related conference in Hershey tomorrow. We’ll leave the township office at 8 and return around 4. I’ll get 8 hours of comp time which will come in handy in 2 weeks when I have my first girls beach weekend of 2023 :D

Seattle Kraken and Colorado Avalanche are playing the first NHL playoff game in Seattle in 104 years.
In 1917, the Seattle Metropolitans became the first American-based team to win the Cup.

Bryan spent the day organizing the basement. The contractor is going to be dropping off supplies for the basement finish project. I stripped the bed and put clean linens on it, did a load of laundry and cleaned up the kitchen. Will finish the laundry on Sunday.
